Police detective Christopher Shay was shot during the Penny Romig murder investigation years ago. His then partner, Matt Carson, ends up confessing he was blackmailed with his own alcohol abuse by plausibly dirty police captain Murphy, after Chris's young daughter Sara convinces her mother Kim she somehow incarnates Peggy's memory.
