Storyline

The Tennysons camp by a lake that - wouldn't you know it? - has a monster in it (a true behemoth), but only Ben has seen it. Having recently dressed up as a sea monster to scare Gwen, he's now taken for a boy who's taking a joke too far. Only the creepy Captain Shaw believes there's a monster in the water, but he's not the sterling character needed to help Ben regain his good word; however, when the monster later makes a very public appearance, Ben's word is restored and he's off to join the captain for a monster hunt, much against Grandpa Max's instructions. Trivia

The false marine biologist leading the hunt for the Krakken is named Jonah Melville. Both names are associated with sea monsters. (Jonah was the character from the Bible who was swallowed by a whale. And Herman Melville wrote "Moby Dick", about a man's obsession with hunting a white whale.) See more »

While camping and swimming at a lakeside campsite, Ben encounters a sea-monster in the lake. Gwen and Max don't believe his claims at first. The next day, they go fishing and meet Captain Shaw, who identifies the sea-monster as the Krakken. Shaw is determined to capture it. They later meet Jonah Melville, who appears to be an animal lover but is nothing of the sort. They soon find out that Jonah has been stealing the Krakken's eggs. The three eventually end up at odds with the Krakken and each other, each with their own intentions towards the creature. Ben is eventually able to stop Jonah and return the creates eggs, appeasing it and getting Jonah arrested at the same time.
