Storyline

The secret source in the administration has provided Tyrol with a list of all humans scheduled for extermination. Tyrol's wife Cally is on the list and he sets off to rescue her. Sharon Agathon has made it safely to the planet but they are ambushed by Cylons lying in wait. They realize they were betrayed and Anders finds damning evidence that points to the identity of the traitor. D'Anna Biers has been having strange dreams of late and an oracle tells her that the child Hera is alive and she will hold her in her arms. Goofs

Previously, when Jammer released Callie and told her to run, she fell off a cliff and then ran into a forest where we heard shots fired, whereas when the same scene is re-shown, there is no forest through which she runs; she is intercepted by Chief Tyrol on the hill and both of them fall down on rocks with no tree in sight. Quotes

Commander William Adama: [Adama walks into the CIC having just given the order to make the ship ready for battle to rescue the colonists off of New Caprica. The crew is clearly nervous. He walks up to the plot table and picks up a speaker] This is the Admiral. You've heard the news. You know the mission. You should also know that there is only one way this mission ends, and that's with the successful rescue of our people off of New Caprica. Look around you. Take a good look at the men and women that stand next to you. ...

The Threads in the Big Twist Begin to Weave in this Episode
30 December 2007 | by (Vulcan) – See all my reviews

Season 3 of BSG involves one of the most well-executed season-long (more actually) story arcs in sci fi history. Although Exodus Part I is not one of the most exciting episodes in this arc, it sets up some important relationships and situations which will play out very well in later episodes within the arc.

Adama is making plans to return to New Caprica to rescue the colonists from the Cylon occupation, while Lee is ordered to protect the civilian fleet with Pegasus. Sharon will lead the rescue party. Meanwhile Starbuck continues to undergo psychological experimentation and torture at the hands Leoben Conoy; the resistance on New Caprica begins to experience serious breaches, and Baltar's alienation from the colonists and his depression become more profound.

Very good episode - but don't bother if you haven't seen its predecessors. Season three won't make much sense watched out of sequence.
