Did You Know?

Rhoda Wishaw (the witch) says that the Wiccan Rede is 'An it harm none shall be the whole of the law'. In reality, the Wiccan Rede is 'An it harm none, do what ye will' (though other variants exist). It seems as though the rede has been mixed with the law of Thelema which states 'Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law'. See more »

Among the witches: "Who killed Craig Rossiter?"...
10 July 2009 | by (U.S.A.) – See all my reviews

AMANDA REDMAN as Det. Pullman and DENNIS WATERMAN as Gerry Standing are faced with solving the murder of a male librarian whom it turns out was a member of a Witch's Coven. Their investigation leads them on the trail of a few female members of the coven who knew the murdered man when he died ten years ago.

The episode should have been called "Who Killed Craig Rossiter?" because that's the theme of the whodunit atmosphere of the entire story. One of the female members calls him a Warlock. Another reveals that he was not the most popular member of the Witches. Still, they insist that the law of the coven was "Harm None." And before the end of the tale, we find out a bit more about him.

A couple of the detectives deal with one of the female witches who mixes them a brew of tea that causes hallucinations whereby one of them sees his dead wife and has a panic attack. Finally, Det. Pullman and the men on her squad realize that a ceremony involving a sacrificial murder is about to happen in the woods and they have to get to the scene before anything happens.

Tidy little mystery with supernatural overtones, it passes the time pleasantly while the tale gradually unravels with a few little surprises along the way. Good episode in this series.
