Hulk’s Gladiator Armor From Thor: Ragnarok Revealed At Comic-Con

1 hour ago | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

See Full Gallery Here

There have been rumours about Thor: Ragnarok adapting Planet Hulk for some time, and while that may ultimately boil down to little more than the Jade Giant fighting in a gladiatorial arena, we now know for sure that it’s actually happening. That was confirmed when Marvel revealed the hero’s armour and weapons at their booth at Comic-Con in San Diego.

It’s fair to say that these props look more than a little plastic, but bear in mind that The Hulk is a fully CGI character, so these no doubt will be in Thor: Ragnarok too. It’s previously been said that a depowered Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is pitted against The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) at the behest of The Grandmaster in the movie, and if what we see above is any indication, it’s going to be epic!

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston Step Out Together For the First Time Since Her Feud With Kim Kardashian

1 hour ago | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston looked to be in good spirits after returning stateside from Australia on Wednesday. The couple - who recently spent some time overseas while Tom worked on the third installment of Thor - kept things casual in matching black ensembles and did not show any Pda this time around. The pair's outing marks the first time Taylor and Tom have stepped out together following her nuclear feud with Kim Kardashian last week, though they did hit the gym shortly after. While the "Bad Blood" singer has managed to stay quiet after a few celebrities voiced their opinions on the matter, her childhood Bff, Abigail Anderson, hasn't been so tight-lipped. Read on for more photos from their day out, then see why Taylor's claim of "character assassination" is valid but hypocritical. »

J.J. Abrams reveals that ‘Star Trek 4’ is his favourite story yet

21 July 2016 4:43 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Comic Con over in San Diego is officially off and running and was nicely kicked off with the world premiere of Star Trek Beyond on Wednesday night. Well, producer J.J. Abrams is also in town to promote the film, and he caught up with the folks over at Entertainment Weekly where the conversation quickly moved on to the next installment in the franchise which has already been announced.

Star Trek 4 will see Chris Hemsworth return as Captain James T. Kirk’s father, George, with the Thor actor already signed to reprise his very brief role from the 2009 movie, which Abrams directed.

Speaking with the magazine, Abrams said:

So one of the reasons that I’m hoping [Star Trek Beyond] does well is so that we can, without question, get that movie made. It really is an amazing story. It’s really the reason we made the deal with Chris Hemsworth as soon »

Stan Lee Reflects on His Successes and Regrets: "I Should Have Been Greedier"

21 July 2016 6:00 AM, PDT | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

After 75 years in the comic book business, Stan Lee has picked up his fair share of souvenirs. His handsomely shabby office in Beverly Hills is cluttered with cool superhero swag. There's a vintage Spider-Man pinball machine in one corner, a life-sized Spidey statue squatting in another, framed photos with multiple presidents (and Beatle Paul McCartney) on the walls and, of course, an army of action figures — Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, a doll that looks vaguely like Stan Lee himself — patrolling the bookshelves. But propped on the floor, easy to overlook amid all the superhero

20 July 2016 6:16 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

San Diego Comic Con 2016 is upon us, and what Marvel is going to reveal is somewhat of a mystery on the movie and television side.

We know what properties are going to be featured based on advertising that has been released prior to the Con, let’s take a look at those.

Doctor Strange

With some new concept art and new posters being issued, it’s probably no surprise to you that the next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is probably going to show off some stuff. Here’s hoping for another trailer, plus a little bit more of the plot along with some charming Benedict Cumberbatch.

I don’t have a ton of lingering questions about this movie, though I am curious as to what they’ll ultimately end up revealing. Thus far, the trailer focused on Stephen Strange’s accident and his introduction to magic and the »

Star Trek 4 Won't Recast Chekov

20 July 2016 11:20 AM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

It was recently announced that Thor actor Chris Hemsworth would be reprising his role as James T. Kirk's (Chris Pine) father in Star Trek 4 but the follow up to Star Trek Beyond will have to make do without Pavel Chekov.  J.J. Abrams recently told the Toronto Sun that the film will not recast the role.  "I would say there's no replacing him. I can't possibly imagine that, and I think Anton deserves better."  He added, "We knew going into this movie it would be a bit of a heartbreak just because of Leonard (Nimoy). We had no idea just how devastating events would become."   As for how the next Star Trek film will handle the absence of Chekov, Abrams stated that he has some ideas but he's not ready to discuss anything just yet.  "I have thought about it, we’re working on it, and it’s too early to talk about it. »

The Current Debate: Getting Serious About "Ghostbusters"

20 July 2016 5:54 AM, PDT | MUBI | See recent MUBI news »

The new Ghostbusters remake has resembled a cultural flashpoint for so long—thanks to a series of stupid protests by Internet-dwelling misogynists—that it felt like a tired topic even before the movie arrived in theaters last week. But if there is a positive side effect of that unwarranted attention, it’s that the critical debate surrounding the film has been somewhat more rousing than a decisively mediocre studio comedy might usually attract. At the New York Times, Manohla Dargis describes the movie’s generally agreed-upon strengths:It’s at once satisfyingly familiar and satisfyingly different, kind of like a new production of “Macbeth” or a Christopher Nolan rethink of Batman. As it turns out, the original “Ghostbusters” is one of those durable pop entertainments that can support the weight of not only a lesser follow-up (the 1989 sequel “Ghostbusters II”), but also a gender redo. That the new movie stars four »

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ director: ‘we wanted to diversify the cast’

19 July 2016 3:46 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Taika Waititi has some really great things to say about how he specifically wanted to diversify the cast of his upcoming Marvel feature, Thor: Ragnarok. Waititi has already weighed in on some Marvel drama - a.k.a. which team would Thor have sided with in Captain America: Civil War - but Comic Book Resources caught up with the director about his work on Thor: Ragnarok while he was promoting his current release Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Creed's Tessa Thompson joined the Thor: Ragnarok cast back in April but we didn't know who she'd be playing until Marvel announced her as Valkyrie. It was a casting specifically meant to diversify, according to Waititi and thankfully, unlike other similar instances, it wasn't met with a racist backlash. Right from the start we wanted to diversify the cast, and it’s hard when you’re working with Vikings. [Laughs.] You want to »

Star Trek 4: Will the two Chris’ equal double the box office?

Tony Black on the addition of Chris Hemsworth’s George Kirk in Star Trek 4…

It’s been quite the week for Star Trek news, and it’s only Monday! With the looming arrival of Star Trek Beyond getting (much to my delight) very positive initial critical buzz, we’ve not only found out the new Bryan Fuller series next year will appear on Netflix internationally as well as CBS in America, joining the cavalcade of earlier series which have just gone live on the demand service, but Paramount dropped a massive reveal about the gestating Star Trek 4 before the third film has even landed: Chris Hemsworth is coming back, joining Chris Pine, and was described as such:

“In the next installment of the epic space adventure, Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk will cross paths with a man he never had a chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him »

Doctor Strange Enters Sanctum Sanctorum in New Poster

18 July 2016 1:26 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Marvel is about to go full-steam ahead on their marketing campaign for their latest movie Doctor Strange. We have already seen a teaser trailer and a few official posters for the next entry in the McU, but in the next week we are very likely to get a whole lot more. Kevin Feige and the gang are bringing Doctor Strange to San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, and they have dropped a brand new theatrical poster ahead of what will likely be one of the highlights of the entire convention.

The latest poster has been showing up in certain movie theaters and even though Marvel has yet to release a high resolution version of it, it has made its way onto Twitter. The first couple of theatrical posters were a bit more of a tease, but this new look showcases Benedict Cumberbatch as The Sorcerer Supreme in all of his glory, »

Movie Review – Ghostbusters (2016)

Ghostbusters, 2016.

Directed by Paul Feig.

Starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Neil Casey, Andy Garcia, Michael Kenneth Williams, Charles Dance and Chris Hemsworth.

Synopsis:

Erin Gilbert, a disgraced physics teacher who grew up believing in ghosts, falls in with her estranged school friend Abby Yates and helps form the ‘Ghostbusters’, the only team able to prevent a spectral apocalypse befalling New York City…

Rarely has there been such an advance furore surrounding a movie as we’ve seen around the reboot of Ghostbusters. It was always going to be a contentious move. Two of the most beloved movies of the 1980’s (well, one at least!), synonymous blockbusters that help define that decade, which fans had long hoped may continue with a forever gestating third movie featuring original stars Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Harold Ramis & Sigourney Weaver. Nobody quite expected Hollywood to push the reboot button, »

Star Trek is Doubling Down on Time Travel and Chris Hemsworth

18 July 2016 8:56 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Always pay extra for the upgraded Hemsworth model.

Before he was Thor for The Avengers, before he was racing and man-whoring for Ron Howard in Rush, and before he was the hilariously dim secretary in the new Ghostbusters movie, Chris Hemsworth made his big screen debut in the pre-credits scene of J.J. Abrams’ 2009 Star Trek reboot as the ill-fated George Kirk, the heroic and idealistic father of Chris Pine’s James T. Kirk.

Even though George didn’t make it past the opening logo of that first movie, his legacy has loomed over the rest of the franchise — his father’s heroism a driving force, for better or worse, for Captain Kirk. It’s something explored in the most recent trailer for Justin Lin’s upcoming entry, Star Trek Beyond.

Star Trek 4: Paramount Officially Confirms Chris Hemsworth's Return

18 July 2016 8:16 AM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

With Star Trek Beyond hitting theaters this week, Paramount has gone ahead and confirmed that work on a fourth Star Trek film (in this timeline) has already begun and that Chris Hemsworth will indeed return as Kirk's father, along with the rest of the cast.

Well, this is kind of interesting.  Over the weekend, as the press junkets were going down for Star Trek Beyond, producer Jj Abrams revealed that fourth film in the series would see Chris Hemsworth return to the franchise.  Hemsworth (known for his work as Marvel's Thor) appeared in the first Star Trek reboot (2009), portraying Captain Kirk's father briefly before dying on screen; the first of many big changes to the Trek timeline in the new films.

James T. Kirk's dad has since played a role in the character's life/decisions ever since, and is referenced pretty heavily in the marketing for Star Trek Beyond. »
