"Lockout" is about a man, Dan, who has lost his job at the company he's been at for 10 years because he can't adapt to the changes taking place there. He decides, with his wife, to rent their house out & move to a house that they have in Wisconsin (that's Ed Gein country, folks). His wife's sister, Rowena, who seems to have a rather diverse life (she apparently turns tricks & is also a junkie) goes along with them. Things are not idyllic in their new home, there's a plumbing leak, Dan gets bit by some kind of spider & his finger turns black, there are strange folks living nearby & there's something (or someone) in the basement behind the walls. But Dan seems to live in a world of denial & it's amazing that he could just go back to bed after seeing an eye looking at him from the other side of a hole in the basement wall. Rowena has an adventure with some of the folks that live nearby, after she finds herself in a situation she didn't anticipate, like an encounter with some crazy lady & a blind man that may also be some kind of zombie. But Dan comes & picks her up, no questions asked, and whisks her away to (temporary) safety. There's also a mysterious hitchhiker that keeps showing up, and Dan finally gives her a ride only to find out that she's not at all what she seems to be. So is all this really happening or is Dan losing his grip on reality? This definitely owes a lot to the films of the 70's, many of which have a rather nonsensical story line but plenty of creepiness. And "Lockout" seems rather nonsensical but if you're a fan of 70's horror then you'll probably enjoy it as much as I did. 7 out of 10.
