'The Dance' features three couples whose stories are entwined at a dance. Harvard student Cameron reluctantly agrees to take a break from his busy student life and go to a dance organized by his English literature professor, Charles Gordon. Cameron finds the nerve to ask his older brother's former girlfriend Zoe, a beautiful, focused and rather intimidating dance student. Zoe, with some trepidation, accepts the offer but the two only stay at the dance long enough to make Cameron's old girlfriend jealous. Meanwhile, bachelor Howard, a witty, successful and career-obsessed day trader gets pressed into acting as M.C. for the dance. His date is Alyson, a sweet, kind-hearted single mother of two who is really excited about her first post-divorce date. At first she shrugs off Howard's insensitive and sarcastic wit, but when it hits too close to home, Alyson confronts him about it. When he's teaching at school, Charles is the ultimate genius on romance and Shakespeare. But at home, he seems ... Written by Anonymous

Not the worst movie I've seen...
28 December 2012 | by (Australia) – See all my reviews

I bought this movie for $2 in a cheap shop so I wasn't expecting too much from it. I found it fairly boring until the focus turned to the main couples having various serious discussions. I found some of them touching and there were some funny moments, too. I actually engaged with the movie at this point, but I hadn't really done so up to this point. It also made some of the characters more likable. I liked the young couple in particular. The actor who played Cameron reminded me of Jeremy Piven at times. The music wasn't great but to be expected of a low budget movie. The actual dance itself was really bad and totally unbelievable that people would want to hang around at it once they went in! It wasn't bad; I would probably watch it again.
