Chicxulub is based on the short story by T.C. Boyle, which was published in The New Yorker in March, 2004. Named after the meteor event, which erased the dinosaurs and much of living existence on earth, the story pursues two story lines: 65 Million years ago, a meteor collided with earth and erased seventy-five percent of all living species. Tonight, Ted and Maureen Biehn receive a phone call that their daughter has been hit by a car. Two tragedies begin to intertwine and the Biehn's life is about to change forever. Written by

I saw this film at the Tribeca Film Festival a while back and was absolutely floored by it. The energy and visceral quality the filmmaker brought to screen was breathtaking. The director took a risk making the choice to shoot 2.35 hand-held, and it absolutely pays off.
The film is based on a short story by T.C. Boyle. It juxtaposes a meteor event that happened 65 million years ago to a father and mother getting a call that their daughter has been in a car accident.
After seeing the film I looked it up and read it. I have to say this is one of the best adaptations I have ever seen of a short story into a short film. A lot of the devastating brush strokes T.C. Boyle is so deft at creating are brought out beautifully in this film.
I wish it was online somewhere, I'd love to see it again.
The performances are incredible too.
