Jake T. Austin has left the dance floor. The Wizards of Waverly Place and Fosters veteran was the first celebrity eliminated from Dancing With the Stars season 23 and he told E! News he's feeling "bittersweet." Hey, it's understandable. "I wish I could've done better. I mean, there's mixed emotions. Overall I'm really lucky, I'm really happy," Austin told us after he was eliminated. "Just a little bummed out, other than that this was an awesome experience." Austin and pro dance partner Jenna Johnson danced the jive to "Kiss You" by One Direction during their first week. They received a 22 out of 40. During the second week of performances, TV Night, they did the »
Season 23 of Dancing with the Stars has its first casualty. Say goodbye to Jake T. Austin and Jenna Johnson! Jake and Jenna were eliminated tonight after finding themselves in the bottom four couples with Maureen McCormick and Artem Chigvintsev, Amber Rose and Maks Chmerkovskiy, and Ryan Lochte and Cheryl Burke. While it's a little sad to see the Wizards of Waverly Place star go home so early, it's not all that surprising. He tied for the second lowest score both this week and last week, only above Rick Perry, and seemed to struggle a bit with both of his routines. Somebody's got to be the first one to go, and unfortunately it was Jake this week. Now, »
Judging by Dancing With the Stars‘ new standards, Monday’s episode of the ABC series was fantastic, simply because no protestors rushed the stage and derailed the broadcast. (Pretty low bar… but it is a reality competition show, after all.)
Still, even without any Ryan Lochte-related drama, the second installment of Season 23 was genuinely a strong outing. Confidence was higher, routines were more involved and, if Amber Rose and Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s Game of Thrones dance is any indication, the season’s entire set design budget has already been spent.

Selena Gomez has created such a huge name for herself as a singer, big-screen actress, and style star that it's easy to forget that she got her start on the Disney Channel, playing the lead role of Alex Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place from 2008 to 2012. The young songstress turns 24 on July 22 and like any child star trying to navigate their way through adulthood in the public eye, Selena's life hasn't been without pitfalls; she spent time in a treatment center for two weeks back in January 2014, a stay that her rep said was "not for substance abuse," and has been at the center of rumors concerning her famous friendships with Taylor Swift, Kendall Jenner, and Demi Lovato, as well as her on-again, off-again romance with Justin Bieber (and let's not even get started on his recent career setbacks). While Selena's journey has included its fair share of ups and downs, »

Over the years, Selena Gomez has become a household name with her incredible music career and big movies, but before she became a bona fide superstar, she was a teen starlet on Disney Channel. Any dedicated Selena fan knows her character, Alex Russo, on the hit show Wizards of Waverly Place is the epitome of cool. Not only is she chock-full of sarcastic comebacks, but she's also super relatable (aside from the whole magic thing, of course). In honor of the actress's 24th birthday this week, we're throwing it back by counting down all the reasons we wanted to be BFFs with her hilarious character. »

Nobody wants to admit it, but the TV shows you watch as a kid help shape your personality as an adult. Sure, there are lots of other factors, like your friends, family, and siblings, but for kids who were allowed television time -- or sneak-watched while at a friend's house -- TV shows were a vital part of shaping your worldview. From "The Powerpuff Girls" kicking butt in Townsville to the magic of the "Wizards of Waverly Place," kids shows that are no longer on the air were downright fascinating. Well, most of them.
That isn't to say kids' shows today aren't just as awesome as the classics. There's always "Adventure Time's" brilliance or the galactic plot lines of "Star Wars Rebels," but nothing compares to watching Miley Cyrus pretend to be two different people with only a wig to tell "them" apart. Of course, child stars grow up, »

Selena Gomez doesn't care about her abnormal upbringing. "I didn't have an opportunity to figure out my life without people having an opinion every step of the way," the actress-singer, 23, says in the May issue of GQ, out Thursday. Indeed, the starlet grew up in front of the camera and onstage, balancing her Disney days on Wizards of Waverly Place with her budding pop career with her former band Selena Gomez and the Scene.
