Storyline

The Gorilla Gang (known as this as they use a Gorilla Kogar to commit their crimes) has kidnapped Jimmy Olsen (cub reporter) and his girlfriend Lucy Lane due to incriminating evidence in their possession. Superman is watching from top of a mountain. Superman flies in to the rescue, despatching the bad guys as he goes. The gang leader, puts the unconscious Jimmy into car, which is now speeding along the highway. Kogar escapes its camper, kills the gang leader, and is now stalking Lucy. Superman flies to the rescue and fights the gorilla, locking it inside its camper, pushing it off the cliff, with it exploding as it crashes on the rocks. Superman then flies to save Jimmy, whose car is on a collision course with an approaching gasoline truck. Landing on the car's running board, Superman, rescues Jimmy. He then revives and is reunited with Lucy. Written by Paul Gerard Kennedy

A really fun and entertaining short movie homage to old superhero serials of yore
9 December 2007 | by (The Last New Jersey Drive-In on the Left) – See all my reviews

This is one of a bunch of cheap and ragged, but still spirited and enjoyable short movies longtime horror fan and independent filmmaker Donald F. Glut made back in the 50s and 60s. The evil Gorilla Gang is terrorizing the city of Metropolis with the help of their ferocious ape Kogar (expertly played with grunting élan by ubiquitous simian thespian Bob Burns). Newspaper reporter Lois Lane and photographer Jimmy Olsen run afoul of the Gorilla Gang. Superman (boyishly handsome stuntman Bart Andrews) flies to their rescue. Veteran bad guy character actors Roy Barcroft and Kenne Duncan portray members of the no-count Gorilla Gang. Sure, this snappy and affectionate little five minute homage to vintage old serial chapter plays is very crude and rough around the edges, but the scratchy black and white cinematography, goofy amplified sound effects, speedy nonstop pace and robust, rousing, hard-charging full-bore score all add immensely to the considerable silly charm of this delightfully dippy hoot.
