Storyline

Cartman gets in serious trouble at school and his mom admits that he is an aggressive child at home and rules both of their lives. Mr. Mackey recommends that Mrs. Cartman try some Nanny reality shows to help straighten out Cartman's behavior. When both Nanny 911 and Supernanny fail, a doctor at a psychiatric ward (where Supernanny is now staying) tells Mrs. Cartman about Cesar Millan aka "The Dog Whisperer". Cartman's mom hires Cesar and the two start running Cartman's life, controlling him by nipping him on the neck and making a "Tsst" sound when he is bad. Cesar tries to get Mrs. Cartman to be the "dominant leader of the pack" and tries to get Eric Cartman to stop his "aggressive dominant behavior". All of these changes in Cartman's life start to piss him off and he plots to kill his mom. Written by Jared Silberkleit

Quotes

Mr. Mackey: Mrs. Cartman, we have had it with your son's behaviour, m'kay? Little Billy Turner is now being treated at the hospital!
Liane Cartman: Eric, why would you do such a thing?
Eric Cartman: [insincere] I'm sorry I handcuffed Billy Turner's ankle to the school flagpole.
Mr. Mackey: You know that's not the point.
Eric Cartman: [rolls eyes] Okay, I'm sorry I handcuffed Billy Turner's ankle to a flagpole and then gave him a hacksaw. And then told him I had poisoned his lunch milk and that the only way he could get to the antidote in time would be to saw ...

Excellent episode! Rings very true
14 September 2008 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This is a great South Park episode. In it, Eric Cartman has gotten so out of hand that his mom has resorted to TV show nannies to get him into line. But when those don't work (Cartman turns their own acts against them in some truly mean but truly funny ways), she hires a "dog whisperer" to help her train Eric Cartman into being a good boy.

I love South Park tremendously. I enjoy their crazy episodes, but I most love it when they focus on the wacky characters in their small town and stay away from the huge global action adventures (though, of course, there are rather a lot of episodes that are exceptions). This one not only stays focused in the town of South Park, and more specifically on Cartman and his mom, but also has a lot to say about parenting in general. If I was to show a group of parents one episode of South Park, it'd be this one. It is very funny, but it rings so very true!

P.S. I think what Eric needs most is a dominant father figure. Not that I want this to happen, because then we'd lose the Eric Cartman we all know and love, but if he WERE to reform...!
