Sam Riley Will Play Christopher Marlowe in ‘A Dead Man In Deptford’

Since he emerged as a possible new leading man in Anton Corbijn's 2007 Ian Curtis biopic Control, Sam Riley has taken his time fulfilling that early promise. He's finally about to hit screens with a couple of new roles in Brighton Rock and 13, and he's now shooting the decades-in-development adaptation of Jack Kerouac's novel On the Road. As a follow-up to those three films, Riley now has what could be his most intriguing post-Control project. He's set up to appear as playwright and Shakespeare contemporary Christopher Marlowe in A Dead Man in Deptford, which will toy with the revisionist notion that Marlowe was also a spy and victim of political assassination. Variety says that the film will be based on the Anthony Burgess novel of the same name, which is essentially a fictionalization of a Marlowe biography called The Reckoning. Emmanuelle Chriqui joins '13'

Emmanuelle Chriqui joins '13'
Emmanuelle Chriqui, who plays Sloan on HBO's "Entourage," is joining the cast of Gela Babluani's "13," a remake of the French thriller "13 Tzameti."

Michael Shannon, Ben Gazzara and Alex Skarsgard also recently have been added to the cast, which includes Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, 50 Cent, Ray Winstone and Sam Riley.

"13" concerns a young man who is forced to participate in a high-stakes game of Russian Roulette where wealthy gamblers bet on human lives.

Rick Schwartz, Aaron Kaufman and Valerio Morabito are producing. Myles Nestel, Anthony Callie, Douglas Kuber, Ron Hartenbaum, Alan Bernon and Brian Edwards are exec producing.

Overnight Prods. is producing the film alongside Barbarian Films and Morabito Picture Co. Paramount Vantage will handle international sales on the film, while Endeavor is repping North American rights.
