A good general overview of the life of one of the most influential religious figures of our time
21 January 2007 | by (Australia) – See all my reviews

This movie is sort of a dramatised documentary, told largely from the point of view of the historical figure W W Phelps, famous for writing many LDS hymns. It shares a lot of footage with the film Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration and includes a lot of additional footage, covering different aspects of Joseph Smith's life. Believers in the divine calling of Joseph Smith will enjoy this overview of the major points in his life while others will gain an insight in to the founding days of the Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saints. Those who are hostile to the LDS church and anything connected with it might as well skip this one though. It's a movie aimed primarily at members of the faith and those interested in learning more about Mormon's beliefs and origins.
