Looks like Disney is getting to end 2013 on their own terms, a privilege rarely granted to your average person, but certainly less rare for multinational mass media conglomerates. It’s been a year where having the last word might be more important for the company than most, as the House of Mouse has taken a fair bit of battering in the last twelve months. Lucky for them, that house is home to cleanup extraordinaire Mary Poppins, and her roundabout return vehicle, Saving Mr. Banks, seems perfectly designed to ensure Disney goes into 2014 with as spotless a reputation as possible.
January saw the premiere of Escape from Tomorrow, a surrealist horror film shot guerrilla-style in Disneyland, leading to plenty of industry handwringing over whether Disney would take legal action. Even though its response was measured -wisely choosing to ignore the film, so as to avoid making a Matterhorn out of a »

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane... Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn, world serves its own needs, regardless of your own needs. Tell me with the rapture and the reverent in the right - right? You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright light, feeling pretty psyched.

While I wasn’t surprised to see Macklemore & Lewis receive seven Grammy nominations announced, I was a bit shocked that their entry for Song of the Year turned out to be “Same Love” featuring Mary Lambert. They’ll be taking on Pink, Katy Perry, Lordes, and Bruno Mars in the category.

It was over a year ago that we saw the first posters for the latest incarnation of Tarzan. This time we get to see a film both in 3D and shot completely using motion capture (the same effect that was achieved to create films like Avatar).
The latest iteration of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic story will be arriving on the big screen next summer, this time under the direction of Reinhard Klooss (Animals United). Kellan Lutz (Twilight, Immortals) leads the motion-capture cast, alongside Spencer Locke (Resident Evil: Afterlife) as Jane, and Jaime Ray Newman (A Town Called Eureka), Robert Capron (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Mark Deklin (Gcb), and Trevor St. John (One Life to Live).

With Catching Fire out next week, Hasbro's Nerf Rebelle bows are sure to top many a Christmas list this year. But why must so many toys for girls – even those that encourage outside play – be marketed as something pretty?
Who wouldn't want to be like Katniss Everdeen? Strong, kind and tough, the heroine of the Hunger Games trilogy wields a bow and arrow so brilliantly she beats all comers and foments a revolution. Boys and girls alike love her, which helped make the first film of the series a global hit last year.
Here, at last, is a brilliant role-model for tweenage girls: one who wouldn't be seen dead in a princess outfit in case it hindered her ability to run for her life, nor the sort of "and then my clothes fell off" fashion of so many computer-generated heroines (Rip Lara Croft). Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Katniss, refused to »

The Geek & Sundry superstar discusses why she is also attending the New York convention as a fan
If the costumed hoards at New York Comic Con this weekend were to elect an unofficial geek culture ambassador, Felicia Day would be a top contender for the role. A few years ago, Day was best known for her role as Vi on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but it is her work on the web that has propelled her to geek stardom.
Day's resumé now includes recurring roles on TV shows including Supernatural and Eureka, an empire of geek-themed web series including the YouTube channel Geek & Sundry and more than two million Twitter followers.
It began with a web series based on her experience playing video games, namely The Guild. The critically acclaimed show's sixth and final season ended in January, and Day is happy with how she closed it. "For the webseries journey, »

One of the things that Syfy‘s very excellent Haven does very well is to integrate new characters into the show. It helps when the new character is played by someone who is already beloved by Syfy fans, and that’s certainly true of Colin Ferguson, who for six years played Sheriff Jack Carter on Eureka.
Ferguson and Haven star Emily Rose recently took time to talk with the press about the new season and their new characters. Ferguson plays the mysterious William, and Emily Rose is playing Lexie, a fourth version of the the woman whose previous incarnations included Sarah, Lucy, and Audrey Parker.
Here they are in a clip from last week’s episode:

William is something of an enigma on "Haven" Season 4.
The man -- played by Colin Ferguson of "Eureka" fame -- showed up in the season premiere, "Fallout," and promptly established himself as a full-on mystery. He knows all about Audrey/Lexie (Emily Rose). There are people following him around with guns. William can take out those people with a pool cue.
Also, Lexie thinks he's cute. So who is this William guy?
What's his name?
If you paid very close attention to William's introduction to Lexie in the bar, you may have noticed a slight hesitation when he was asked his name. It was almost as if "William" had to think about an answer before he said it.
Now why would William -- a person Lexie had never seen before and didn't know at all -- need to give a fake name? The fake isn't for her in the moment, »
Review Rachael Kates 15 Sep 2013 - 11:15
Rachael returns to Haven for the eventful season 4 premiere. Here's her excited review of Fallout...
This review contains spoilers.
Welcome back to Haven - where the news is made up and the law of physics don’t matter. We do and don’t come back exactly where we left off - with Duke in the barn, right up until he gets spit out like a cherry pit into the Boston aquarium six months later. Whoops - from magical farm structures to near drownings that land him in the hospital. Oh Duke, I love your face, and your mouthiness, and everything except your hair. It’s almost as bad as Sam Winchester’s. Cut it for all our sakes.
I also adore the pixieish woman Jennifer Mason who appears at his bedside. She has a Trouble that gave her the ability to listen in »
