Time to say Aloha!
Sylviastel3 September 2008
Mama Harper's dream of finding a rich man is put aside until she finds the lamp with the dancing hula girl on the island. The episode begins with her writing to Eunice about her Hawaiian trip. She is still trying to fend off the advances of Billy Field played brilliantly by Barney Martin. Mama learns her chi chi drinks aren't alcoholic after drinking so many of them and being told by Loraine, the Hawaiian server. The Harpers get an invitation to a billionaire's luau where revelations are made about Bubba's new girlfriend and Billy Fields who was after Thelma for a possible proposal. The Harpers have spent a week in Hawaii and are sad to call it an end. This two part episodes were some of the more memorable and happy times of the series. Since the Harpers and the Seavers from Growing Pains have all gotten to go Hawaiian, I am still waiting for that opportunity of a lifetime.

Another fun episode.

More cloudy drizzly weather in part 2. Mama Thelma Harper (Vicki Lawrence) spent a lot of time in Vint and Naomi's room which makes sense for keeping the group together for scenes. Don't think it's ever said whose room it is exactly. I don't see Jeopardy giving suites as prizes. Looked like a man doubling for Iola (Beverly Archer) boarding the helicopter. Barney Martin gave a stellar performance as pest tycoon Billy Fields. It all worked well. Naomi mistaken for a stock trading whiz, Lani (Alison Gleason) actually being from New Jersey, and the Iola and Lars romance. Good to see the cast out of Raytown in different settings.
