You want to see a martial arts movie your girlfriend will love? Try this movie, this beautiful, subtle movie. Not your typical Chuck Norris flick.
The decors will leave you breathless. The fights, not of the gory kind but rather more like aerials, will suspend disbelief. And the story will touch your heart. The ending is going to make the most mature of you cry.
This story isn't any simple, as its focus change as it travels from one character to another, yet you will feel that these very characters lived long before you saw them on the screen. The feminine characters here, in particular, are all powerful ones, yet they do not have that "invincible Hollywood female attitude" that is polluting our screens of late. The strongest of them all is also the most feminine one. That is refreshing.
This is a movie of great beauty and sensibilities, action, conflict and philosophy. It is also, at times, a sad movie, as destinies are fulfilled within the most spectacular settings. There are also traces of lighter Asian humor.
A must-see for all these eclectic, open-minded lovers of beauty and art.
