Storyline

Divorce looms when Nels and his dog storm away from Harriet and the mercantile after the Olesons quarrel over the price of eggs. But the situation only gets more muddled when the townsfolk try to help them reconcile, prompting Harriet to pack her bags and causing some to wonder, a little wistfully, if Walnut Grove wouldn't be more peaceful if the volatile woman left town for good. Trivia

The excessive crying by the men and everyone also led the high school boys of the day to nickname the show "Little Soap on the Prairie" since the next day many girls would excitedly recap the most recent Monday night airing, especially during the Laura/Almanzo on again/off again season. See more »

Goofs

In a previous submission, it is suggested that at the end when Mr. Ingalls says he will have enough time to turn the wagon around, but when Mrs. Ingalls leaves the store, the wagon is facing the same way. If you look closely, when they arrive they are on one side of the store and when Mrs. Ingalls leaves the store, they are on the other side of the door, meaning the wagon was turned and is now facing the opposite direction. Quotes

Dr. Hiram Baker: A man doesn't worry about losing something that nobody else wants.
Lars Hanson: Why should he worry?
Dr. Hiram Baker: Why indeed? But if a man thinks that another man is about to run off with something that has always belonged to him absolutely, then that man is going to rise up to declare his ownership in no uncertain terms !
Lars Hanson: Right. But uh... who is gonna run off with Mrs. Olsen?
Dr. Hiram Baker: You.
Lars Hanson: Who?
Dr. Hiram Baker: You.

Crazy Credits

During the ending credits on the DVD of this episode, Laura and Jack are seen skipping down the hill - the same as every other episode in the series. However rather than ending at a freeze-frame of Laura jumping in the air as usual, it instead shows her landing after her jump and swinging her arms, standing proudly. This is the only episode which ends without the freeze-frame. See more »

25 August 2015 | by (South Africa) – See all my reviews

This one is on my list of favorite episodes for season 1. This episodes really does has it funny moments.Let's face it Mrs Oleson and eggs do not mix. Also we see the Olsen's dog foir the first time then again we only see him 3 times in the stretch from season 1-3.this is the first of many episodes where the Olsen's really fight aww its classic. It all began when Mrs Olsen judged Mrs ingalls eggs as being low standers unpurpose Nels picks this up and steps in. He begins to call her names and she does not like this so she. Oh come on we all knows what happens next(who can forget that classic scene). Afterwards Nels tries to apologizes but Mrs Olesong is just stubborn. The fight continues and Mr Olsen leaves and went to the hotel... Even doc baker and Mr Hanson steps in but they just made it worse LoL Is this the end for the Olsen's tune in and find out.. I love love love this episode and its really good. Now continue to episode 17
