The awful truth
6 July 2011 | by See all my reviews

Blindfold: a young man and his mother have to cope with something they can't believe : his brother /her son is a criminal, responsible for the death of several women. This is a situation you can come across: overnight, one of your dear ones is not the one you think he was and you cannot face the truth:even more than the brother, the mother's disbelief is moving ,and the actress (Frederique Meininger) is to be praised . The late Guillaume Depardieu plays the part of the criminal and he gives an over-the-top performance, but in that context, perfectly credible. There's a tendency to dwell on the sordid side of life and this is not the movie to choose if you are down in the dumps. The last picture ,however, shows that some sunlight does break through on this dark world.
