Checking various instruments such as watches to verify the time, the Marshalls wake up one morning to find that the sun has not risen like it should have. The last time something like this happened but in the opposite way where the sun would not set was the result of something being wrong with the clock pylon. Believing this time to be deliberate sabotage by the dark-loving Sleestak, Rick and Holly investigate at the clock pylon - where they do find sabotage has taken place - while Will stays behind at the cave to ensure the Sleestak do not take control of their home. But their efforts to fix the pylon with their various crystals do not work. Meanwhile, Enik discovers that the Sleestak, who are behind this move, mistakenly believe the dark will allow them to hunt for food more effectively and efficiently, while in reality the dark ultimately will kill off their food source.
