Storyline

Thirty-something Lydia lives alone in a large old homestead in small town New Zealand, harboring fantasies for Christian, the boy next door. When Lydia finds the gorgeous, enigmatic and destitute Luella Miller hiding in her house, she takes pity on the young woman and allows her to stay. Luella's intense sexuality and seductive presence instantly disrupt the delicate balance of this small town. A bitter jealousy develops when Christian, like most of the men in town, falls under Luella's spell. Lydia is forced to finally confront Luella and her own feelings for Christian, leading to a shocking, tragic climax. Written by Marc Hughes

Eh.. not worth it.
14 October 2006 | by (D.C.) – See all my reviews

Since no one has commented on it, here's my two cents: I thought this film might be an interesting diversion from the norm, and was pretty disappointed. The entire presentation, from acting to camera work, comes across as an exercise put on by decent drama students. That the main character designs costumes for theater seems like an inside joke to that. The plot really doesn't gel with me, but perhaps men are just that stupid in New Zealand? It was a task to keep watching it, and I found myself only interested in the sexual overtones after the first half. There was a lot of potential for this film to be significantly better, but it just wasn't realized.
