On the DVD, there is a "commentary," with Larry, Jimmy, and Pa Grape. Acoording to the commentary, the film was meant to be shot (in the context of a real movie in the world of Veggitales) in Old Zealand, but due to conflicts, it was instead shot in Bob's backyard.
Several backgrounds from other shows are used in this one. For instance, The Mountains of Much-Snowia are actually mountains from VeggieTales: Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Samson's Hairbrush (2005).
Shortly after this film came out, Phil Vischer got a cease-and-desist letter from New Line Cinema for illegally parodying Lord of the Rings. This is why VeggieTales: The Wonderful Wizard of Ha's (2007) was delayed in production.
This was the first VeggieTales straight-to-video release to have a 52-minute-long feature, which then became the standard length. All previous entries (except for the Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie (2002) theatrical release) had been shorter.
