Five Directors Who Could Direct ‘Top Gun 2’

7 July 2016 6:57 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

As you may have determined, there will be a Top Gun sequel at some point in the very near future. Jerry Bruckheimer teased an image with Tom Cruise a little while ago via his Twitter account, but since then things have gone a little bit quiet.

Cruise is currently shooting The Mummy for Universal and then he’ll reprise his role as Ethan Hunt in a sixth Mission: Impossible movie for Paramount. In between he’ll hit the road to promote the Jack Reacher sequel and then, hopefully, we hope he’ll turn his attention to Top Gun 2 – after all, the original film is thirty years old next year.

What we haven’t considered is who will direct it. As we all know, Tony Scott sadly passed away a couple of years ago, and his legendary shoes are going to be really difficult to fill.

Are Popular Characters Replacing Big Name Actors?

5 July 2016 8:47 AM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

The long-accepted rule in the film industry is that established names bring in the box office gold. Hollywood has always relied on big-name actors to guarantee them big box office. But is the trend changing now? Are fans now becoming less interested in A-list actors than in the characters they play?

A-List Hollywood stars get the big money because they bring in big profits for Hollywood studios. Or at least, they have up until now. Is the era of the A-Lister starting to fade? It’s possible, because in recent years, it seems that film fans have more interest in the role and less in the person playing the role. Look at what’s been happening to many A-lister in recent years.

Let’s take Johnny Depp, for instance. He used to play a variety of roles and could draw in crowds with his name alone. More recently, however, his »

Tom Cruise is ready to hospitalize more bad guys in the 'Never Go Back' trailer

22 June 2016 11:40 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

It would be interesting to speak to the producers of the Jack Reacher films, including Tom Cruise, just to ask them why they seem dead-set against doing the books in chronological order. Not every single book in the series by Lee Child follows the one directly before it. He’s played with time a bit, jumping back to fill in some details about the character. However, for the most part, there is continuity in the series, and by making the movies in what feels like random order saps some of the fun of the way Child told the story. The first film in the series, Jack Reacher, was adapted from One Shot, the ninth book in the series. In the fourteenth book in the series, Reacher begins an over-the-phone relationship with Major Susan Turner, and he began to work his way across the country to meet her. It was book eighteen, »

Tom Cruise Returns in First Trailer for 'Jack Reacher: Never Go Back'

22 June 2016 9:38 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"We're on the run for this entire movie." Paramount has unveiled the first trailer for the sequel Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, directed by Edward Zwick, bringing back Tom Cruise in the role of Jack Reacher, a character invented by author Lee Child. He's joined by actress Cobie Smulders, along with a cast including Robert Knepper, Aldis Hodge and Holt McCallany. I like the cold opening of this, with Reacher in the small diner talking back to some cops. From there it gets much more interesting, and for some reason I'm a bit more excited to see this sequel than I ever was the original. Maybe it's the way Zwick directs, as I almost always enjoy his films no matter what. Take a look below and let us know your thoughts. Here's the first official trailer for Edward Zwick's Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, on YouTube (via Tfs): (Update! »

Tom Cruise’s ‘Jack Reacher: Never Go Back’ Trailer Packs a Punch

22 June 2016 7:40 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Jack is back in the trailer for Tom Cruise’s “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.”

Cruise’s vigilante kicks butt and takes names in the action-packed teaser, released by Paramount on Wednesday.

“Two things are going to happen in the next 90 seconds,” he says after being handcuffed by police for beating a group of men with his bare hands. “First, that phone is going to ring. Second, you’re gonna be wearing these cuffs on your way to prison.”

His prophecy comes true, to say the least.

The sequel to 2012’s “Jack Reacher” follows the title character as he returns to Virginia to meet Cobie SmuldersSusan Turner, the head of his former unit.

“You’re a legend,” Turner tells him. “People wonder why you left.”

Reacher soon finds that Turner’s missing and he’s being charged with a crime committed nearly two decades ago. The former military cop »

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back trailer features Tom Cruise at his toughest

22 June 2016 7:26 AM, PDT | Cineplex | See recent Cineplex news »

Nobody does action quite like Tom Cruise.

While he’s best known for his work in the Mission: Impossible franchise, he’s also proved his action skills with the Jack Reacher movies. The first trailer for the latest in the series, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, was just released, and it promises just as much insane action as we’re used to seeing with Cruise.

The story follows Reacher as he returns to his old headquarters and discovers he is now accused of a homicide committed 16 years ago. With the help of an old colleague (Cobie Smulders), Reacher attempts to find the real killer while remaining on the run from authorities.

Based on the books by Lee Child, the Jack Reacher movies allow Cruise to turn his passion for action up all the way, with plenty of car chases, hand-to-hand combat scenes, and outrageous stunts.

Tom Cruise Returns As Lee Child’s One-Man Army In Jack Reacher: Never Go Back Trailer

22 June 2016 7:00 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Jack Reacher is many things. A trained killer, a lone wolf, a one-man army; all attributes channeled through Tom Cruise in Christopher McQuarrie’s 2012 adaptation of Lee Child’s pulse-pounding novel series.

Four years later and though McQuarrie currently has his hands full with Paramount’s Mission: Impossible series – replaced at the helm by Edward Zwick – Cruise is primed to reprise his role as Child’s restless former major with Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.

Pegged to arrive in October, the sequel has been pitched as a relatively self-contained experience – not unlike Child’s novels – welcoming How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders into the fray as a disgraced commanding officer. Turning to Cruise’s agent in a time of need, it’s now up to Jack Reacher to shed his lone wolf status and ultimately buddy up with his newfound partner in crime.

Jack Reacher is On the Hunt in First Never Go Back Trailer

Tom Cruise is back as the no holds barred badass, Jack Reacher, for the first trailer in the upcoming sequel, Never Go Back, which shows off a ton of action and one-liners.  Come inside to check it out!

I can't sit here and say I was a huge fan of the first Jack Reacher movie.  I didn't hate it, and found it fairly enjoyable for an action flick, but it's not like it did anything new for the genre.  Judging by today's first look at Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, we're in for more of the same:

Again, I'm not trying to be harsh or anything.  This is a pretty damn fun trailer and the action looks impressive.  It's going to be an entertaining movie at the very least.  Since it seemed to give away quite a bit of the plot, however, I'm not holding out hope for it to »

First Trailer For Jack Reacher: Never Go Back Is Here!!

22 June 2016 6:05 AM, PDT | www.themoviebit.com | See recent TheMovieBit news »

The original Jack Reacher was an absolute gem of an action movie, and really showed how bad ass Tom Cruise can be when he really puts his mind to it. The sequel is coming our way in a few short months, with The Last Samurai’s Edward Zwick replacing original director Christopher McQuarrie, and the first trailer finally comes our way, showing us it’s business as usual for Lee Child’s literary hero. I seriously love Cruise in this role, kicking ass and not holding back with razor sharp quips. Fans of the book series will of course have their issues with the movies, but there’s no denying that with the glut of cheesy, throwaway action movies in recent years, it’s refreshing to have something that hits hard but still knows how to have fun like Jack Reacher.
