New Fan Theory About 'The Joker' In The Dark Knight Will Blow Your Mind

19 hours ago | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Jared Leto is going to have to do a lot to top Heath Ledger's take on The Joker, and you have to believe that the Dallas Buyers Club star will face plenty of comparisons to what we saw in The Dark Knight back in 2008 when Suicide Squad is released next year. His take is no doubt going to be very different, but now a new theory has surfaced which may just change how you view The Joker from Christopher Nolan's movie. Here's the theory from Reddit user GeneralZee (via Uproxx).    Joker, although a lying psychopath, is actually the hero in The Dark Knight. Before the Joker, Gotham was a mess. Entire sections of the city were closed off due to madness, organized crime ran rampant, and the majority of important city officials were wildly corrupt. The city even tolerated a renegade vigilante who ran around wearing a rubber suit (Okay, »

Viola Davis talks Suicide Squad and DC’s “darker characters”

DC Comics have a tendency to have darker characters,” states Davis. “You know, Batman is a darker character, Harley Quinn, the Joker, and what David Ayer has managed to do is humanize them. I think that you see it in the trailer too–just something different about it that makes you lean in. What he’s explored is the pathology behind all of these characters, so you just get that extra spin that gives you the flavor and a look which is very different. »

Next year Margot Robbie is set to give a big screen debut to the fan favourite DC character Harley Quinn in Warner Bros.Suicide Squad, and speaking to Daily News, the Australian actress has revealed that she had previously been under consideration to play Susan Storm in 20th Century Fox’s box office bomb Fantastic Four – a role she eventually lost out on to Kate Mara.

“I didn’t really resonate with the script, and I haven’t seen the movie, so I don’t really know how it turned out different from the page,” states Robbie. “But I had a great meeting with the director [Josh Trank] and I really enjoyed that. I guess it’s part of the game: sometime you win some, sometimes you lose some.”

Given the reception to Fantastic Four, I guess this one can be chalked up as a “win”.

Suicide Squad: 6 Major Spoilers Jared Leto May Have Revealed About His Joker

18 August 2015 5:00 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

deviantART

Regardless of what part The Joker ends up playing in Suicide Squad, it’s become ever clearer that the Clown Prince of Crime is going to have a major role both in that movie and the wider DC Extended Universe moving forwards. Having cast Oscar winning actor Jared Leto as the iconic villain, Warner Bros. no doubt know that they have something very special on their hands, but are probably a little less enthusiastic over the fact that he’s been inadvertently dropping some big spoilers about his take on the villain since the second they chose him.

Did he not get the memo that these comic book movies are supposed to be kept under wraps?! Clearly not.

While his tattoos and metal teeth have upset some fans, there’s really no reason to suspect that Leto won’t deliver the definitive Joker when Suicide Squad is released this time next year. »

Australian Court Severely Limits ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ Online Piracy Test Case

14 August 2015 1:03 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

An Australian court has severely crimped the ability of a film rights holder to pursue individuals who may have illegally watched its film online.

In a landmark ruling earlier this year, Australia’s Federal Court said that Dallas Buyers Club LLC and Voltage Pictures could require Internet service providers including iiNet to hand over details of some 4,726 individuals in Australia who had watched the the 2013 movie “Dallas Buyers Club” for free via BitTorrent.

But in a ruling on Friday, Federal judge Justice Nye Perram removed much of the bite of the earlier ruling.

Perram said that Dallas Buyers Club should post a A$600,000 (Us$441,000) bond before it could have access to the subscriber data and send letters seeking payment from the alleged copyright infringers.

Perram said that his decision was intended to prevent Dallas Buyers Club LLC from intimidating Internet users and to prevent it from profiting from doing so, »

Australia’s federal court rejects many of Us studio’s claims for damages, saying it may invoice downloaders only for the cost of a legitimate copy of the film

The Us studio behind the film Dallas Buyers Club will have to pay a $600,000 bond before it can send invoices demanding damages to the thousands of Australians who allegedly downloaded the film illegally.

In a landmark piracy and copyright case, the federal court has rejected a number of the movie studio’s reasons for seeking compensation for illegal downloads in a move that will significantly limit the amount it can charge illegal downloaders.

See Tom Hiddleston As Music Legend Hank Williams In I Saw The Light

In just the last few years, Tom Hiddleston has revealed himself as one of the best young actors currently working in the movie industry - whether he's taking on big blockbuster parts or starring in intimate dramas. Later this year he'll be showcasing his skills in the latter category with the Hank Williams biopic I Saw The Light... but what may surprise you is that it will be a transformative performance as well. See what I mean thanks to the first look image below (and click it to see it in high-res): This isn't a transformation on the level of, say, Jared Leto in Dallas Buyers Club, but there is a certain excellent subtlety at work here, and it really works to make Tom Hiddleston look just that much more like the legendary country singer that he's portraying: Of course, it will take much more than a make-up process »

• Tangerine: La sex trade tale iPhoned in – first look review

When Jared Leto accepted an award at the 2014 Santa Barbara International film festival for what would be his Oscar-winning performance as a trans woman in Dallas Buyers Club, the actor came under fire from a heckler shouting “trans-misogyny does not deserve an award”.

Leto is far from the first person to receive plaudits for such a role – over the past 40 years at least one actor every decade has been Oscar-nominated for playing a trans character – but their casting is increasingly coming into question.

Suicide Squad’s Jared Leto teases The Killing Joke on Instagram?

Suicide Squad star Jared Leto has taken to Instagram to post a short video of his shadow, which may (or may not) alude to one of the Joker’s most iconic looks from Alan Moore and Brian Bollan’s Batman: The Killing Joke

Of course, this doesn’t mean that Suicide Squad will be drawing on any elements of The Killing Joke (Leto may just be a fan of his own shadow), but we will be getting an animated adaptation of the classic comic book tale next year, with Mark Hamill lending his voice to the Joker.
