When motor mechanic Andy meets a gruesome death, suspicion initially falls on his business partner Tony, whose car is found at a well-known suicide spot and who has apparently killed himself. However, it transpires that Tony was the intended victim and the connection is down to the murderous Callaghan brothers, released from prison after twenty years and bent on revenge on the people who put them there. The case of the murdered mechanic
29 June 2007 | by (Port Stephens, Australia) – See all my reviews

Andy, a mechanic has been strung up and burnt alive in his garage. Was someone taking revenge for a shonky repair job? The theory is quickly discounted when the Callaghan brothers come to the attention of the investigating team. They are a couple of ruthless gangsters living with their Aunt after serving 20 years for murder.

Suddenly a police informant has his fingers removed and spends the next hour refusing to assist the police with their inquiries. The climax is a ruthless showdown between the brothers and an old adversary who is trying to get his daughter back.

This episode has it all, a kidnapping, revenge and a witness in hiding.

I have been disappointed by Taggart in the past few weeks. However, this is a return to form. One cloud on the horizon is Colin McCredie who is turning into Scotland's most annoying Bobby. I can't see him lasting much longer.
