Sandy is voted "Man of the Year" by Riviera magazine due to his work for the hospital, but at the same time is having some trouble with the law for his connections to Henry Griffin when Mr. Griffin's mob connections are made public. Although Seth is happily back together with Summer, he is not out of sorrow: His mom struggles with alcoholism again and Sandy finds out that Seth lied about being accepted into Brown University. Meanwhile, Marissa visits Kaitlin at her posh boarding school, who needs her help to get out of trouble with another student. After Ryan brought Volchok to the hospital after he nearly and inadvertently tried to kill him, Volchok wants Ryan to help him with some illegal activities; which includes some burglary and the theft of a car, otherwise he will bust Ryan to the cops. Theresa's line "It's hard for a 28 year old to get Prom." is an in-joke to both Ben McKenzie and Navi Rawat being in their late 20s when this episode aired. See more »

Seth Cohen: Today's a good day for me, Ryan. I finally came clean, told the truth about not getting into Brown, and things are great. Life is so much better when you're honest, you just mean what you say, you say what you mean - I feel like you.
Ryan Atwood: Well, now that you're on a roll, are you going to tell Sandy and Kirsten about Brown, too?
Seth Cohen: Yeah, I don't think so.

Ryan and Volchok make a deal after a fallout at prom. Sandy is chosen as Man of the Year, but this sparks the DA to dig deeper into his involvement with the hospital problems. Marissa goes and sees Kaitlin at her boarding school and Seth visits the Newport Group HQ and lights up the joint.

Seth confronts his father and stands up for his mother. Kirsten needs help and luckily her son is there. But in which parallel universe is Sandy? It's really cool to have Kaitlin in this episode, she's totally fun, and it was an episode with a chance for Marissa to get out of the O.C. That's what she needed, a family moment, with all her Volchok drama. Unfortunately, Ryan always feels like he must take care or her business, and that includes what's happening in this episode.

And it seems, it's Seth's turn to leave a Newport Party with the handcuffs on.
