Four tapes were swiped in August 2006 in Budapest, where the 13-part series was being edited, and the thieves were demanding one million pounds (1.9 million dollars, 1.5 million euros) for their safe return. The production offered a 40,000 pounds reward for the return of the tapes. The Hungarian police found the tapes the next month.
All the main cast went through months of medieval boot camp to prepare for their roles. Yet Lucy Griffiths previously lied about being able to ride a horse well, but once getting the part, she had to learn very quickly indeed.
Keith Allen lost one of his teeth while filming a fight sequence for the show. This was written into the script, with the Sheriff losing a tooth in the last episode of Series 1. He takes teeth from skulls and places them in the gap in his teeth as a recurring gag in the second series.
Foz Allan and Dominic Minghella stated that Friar Tuck was omitted in seasons one and two because they "didn't want a comic relief character". Tuck was introduced in the third series and proved to be anything but.
The series was cancelled after 3 seasons because Jonas Armstrong had decided that he did not want to a fourth season and wanted to leave the series, so he could move on to other projects. The showrunners could not figure out a way to keep the series going without its main star and since Maid Marian had died at the end of the previous season, it was decided Robin was to die at the end of the third season.
Lucy Griffiths's cameo in Robin Hood: Something Worth Fighting For: Part 2 (2009) influenced Karen Gillan's cameo in Doctor Who: The Time of the Doctor (2013). Which, the dying Eleventh Doctor hallucinates and Amy Pond appears and walks towards to him and says to him "Raggedy Man. Goodnight!" and the Eleventh Doctor snaps back into reality. In this series, a dying Robin sees Marian appear and walking towards him. Marian says to him "The greatest adventure is yet to come". They embrace and in reality, Robin succumbs to the poison and dies.
Richard Armitage wanted the audience to squirm every time Guy got near Marian. He was disturbed at the idea of them being a couple and after he learnt that his character was going to murder Marian, he had several nightmares in the days leading up to the shooting of the scene.
