- TriviaAt the beginning of this episode, Bill McNeal is reading a magazine called "Radio Ink," and on the cover of that magazine is a photograph of Bill McNeal.
- GoofsIn the opening tag scene, there was no way Matthew's jump could be far enough to go over Beth's desk which is about ten meters away from the office's entrance. This is however, an 'eye-popping' wacky comedy cliche.
- Quotes
Joe Garrelli: [Can't work because of a strike] Do you know what holds this station together?
Beth: Gravity?
Joe Garrelli: No! The sweat of my brow, the grace of God, and thousands of miles of my home-made duct tape! I can feel this station falling apart around me, and I'm powerless to stop it.
Beth: Why don't you just fix things a little?
Joe Garrelli: I can't, I took an oath.
Matthew Brock: Joe, I just wanted you to know the coffee maker's broken.
Joe Garrelli: Damn you, Jimmy Hoffa!
Matthew Brock: No, actuallly, that was me.

King for a day
There's nothing like a good plan backfiring, and 'Who's the Boss' has Dave & Lisa concocting a doozy to teach Bill a lesson by making him news director. What happens is pretty much exactly what you'd expect: Bill's ego runs wild as he puts the staff to work on meaningless tasks and hides away in his office behind his . . . piano. It's Hartman unchecked, and that is a thing of beauty.
Meanwhile, Joe's on strike, leaving no one to fix things (resulting in panicky Dave: "Bill, coffee machine broken, no coffee!"), which leads to a priceless scene with Mr. James wreaking havoc on the break room while Joe frets helplessly.
It may say 'Part 1' in the title, but this works terrifically as your business-as-usual "NewsRadio" and you don't see that cliffhanger ending coming.
8/10
