Different but not enough of Charlie
13 February 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I watched 3 of these episodes. The animated image of Charlie Chan is really good. It could be Sydney Toler or any one of the Charlies.

The imagery is good and the way the family van changes into many kinds of vehicles is creative with the animation.

What I did not like was that Charlie Chan is not in to many of the scenes. His kids do all the detective work. The boys think they know who did this and who did that and they end up in trouble. There also is a dog that looks like a cat. There is some humor and the animation is funny.

I wish they would have stayed with the original Chan movies were Charlie was the star and the detective.

This series was produced by Hanna Barbara the producer of Scooby Doo. In the first few episodes I watched there was a song in the background. In the Crown Jewel Caper 3 minutes and 21 seconds into the video the theme song for Scooby Doo is playing in the background. Now I really love the old Scooby Doo series, not the Mystery Incorporated series so I was even more disappointed Scooby's song was used.

So I have more to view and maybe the series will improve.
