For a start I love the scary twisted circus game that was established in the previous episode and is practically the main focus of this one. It's so cool how even Reboot touched upon the theme of scary clowns and funhouses of horror, I just love that kind of imagery. And I love the clown getup that Bob and Dot are wearing after they Reboot! There's something hilariously adorable about Dot still being all depressed and apathetic from before even as she's donning a harlequin outfit. She is very much a sad clown! Her self doubt causes added danger to herself and Bob as they struggle through a game that was thought a mere myth, and then things become downright surreal as Dot is sucked into a vision of Mainframe as it would be if they lost against the Funhouse game. And what she experiences isn't a dream, but a possible future reality, with waves of it rippling into the past, which is why she sees things before Phong even intervenes and uses the device on her in an attempt to avoid disaster... Really weird but really awesome! And there's some serious foreshadowing in this one. The "Megaframe" is a lot more ordered than the one which appears in season 3, and the older angry punk version of Enzo isn't that different from the grim adult hunter of viruses that he eventually becomes... It's cool, but I very much doubt that they were planning that far ahead at this point. I love the crazy hobo version of Phong, he's hilarious! What he says to Dot about the nature of fate is so beautifully profound. One of my favourite instances of the entire series is the fantastic and utterly unexpected reference to Wallace and Gromit when the creepy penguin from "The Wrong Trousers" pops out of nowhere! Nobody would have ever been expecting a reference like that. I've seen it lots of times and it still surprises even me! Terrific and very apt closing line from Dot as the first season reaches its end, and I am very glad that a lot of other people liked what they saw too because there was far greater and darker stories to come and a lot more to explore, and explore they did indeed! See you around folks.
