Noble efforts extinguished

Warning: Spoilers
Man, Audrey can't catch a break. Just two hours ago, she was being tortured by her own people; now she's badly wounded in a nasty standoff between Bauer and Henderson. And while we're on the subject of Christopher Henderson, Peter Weller plays a great heavy. The guy's a real slime and gits very well as a psychopath.

The big surprise here is Defense Secretary Heller (William Devane), who completely messes everything up. Has has Logan dead to rights, but Heller turns on him in order to negotiate with the president himself. And this, after an entire episode of everyone close to the oval office finally sensing something amiss about the commander-in- chief.

Unusual for "24", the big surprise (Heller's double-cross) comes not at the end, but early on. It's an episode that raises the stakes unbelievably high.

8/10.

Fear Thee Leader (President)

Warning: Spoilers
This episode from beginning to end is full of suspense. First Jack has to get to the evidence that president Logan had something to do with the assassination of former president Palmer. Almost impossible to do as there is a warrant for his arrest and there is still martial law in effect Jack does it and gets out of the bank and to the airport with out a scratch. He meets Audrey at the airport where her father Mr. Secretary is meeting them so Jack can show him the evidence as he is the only one Jack trusts. After showing Mr. Secretary the evidence he agrees for a minute then turns against Jack saying he is going to make this quiet and get the president to resign. As Mr. Secretary goes to meet with president Logan he has his own team coming to kill Jack and recover the evidence. Christopher Henderson arrives with his team and recovers the evidence with Audrey badly hurt but still alive. Back in the white house Mr. Secretary confronts president Logan as the president receives a call from Henderson saying he recovered the evidence. This episode was excellent like all the others and we can wait to find out what happens next week.
