When The Driver opens the door for the robbers at the beginning of the movie, you can hear the car make a beeping noise. This "key in ignition" noise only plays when the driver's door is open, to prevent locking the keys in the car.
During the chase scene after the pawn shop heist, Driver maneuvers his Mustang 5.0L backwards down a canyon highway. Although the Ford Mustang only has one reverse gear, the engine sounds played suggest the shifting of gears for a manual transmission.
During the initial chase Driver realizes they have been spotted on the bridge by the police helicopter. He immediately puts his foot down and the engine sound suggest fast acceleration. However, the distance to the other cars in front hardly changes in the following scenes, if at all.
After the Pawn Shop robbery the driver is being chased by a Chrysler 300 and then suddenly handbrake turns and carries on in reverse. Gear changes can be heard but that is not possible while driving in reverse.
In one scene when Driver and Irene are talking on the phone, Driver is seen using a cell phone. When the shot cuts to Irene, we hear Driver hanging up with what sounds like a landline phone being put back on its cradle.
A television shows the Los Angeles Clippers playing the Toronto Raptors in the opening scene. Later, while Driver waits in his car, the radio announcer calls the score of an NBA game between the Boston Celtics at 77 points and the Los Angeles Clippers at 72 points. Moments later, after announcing the Celtics scored, the radio announcer states the score is still Celtics 77, Clippers 72.
When Bernie visits Shannon's garage to see his newly acquired stock car, Nino criticizes Bernie for making the purchase and expresses his preference for a 1955 Ford Thunderbird. When the scene cuts to a conversation between Bernie and Driver, the Ford Thunderbird is no longer seen in the garage.
While stealing a Mustang GT, Driver can be seen wearing his driving gloves as he walks up to the car. The gloves are seen in the next shot hanging from the rear pocket of his jeans as he enters the vehicle with bare hands, only to reappear on his hands when he is behind the wheel in the following shot.
When Driver is waiting for the robbers, the right rear door is open before Driver opens it. When the first robber exits the building, the door is still open. In the very next shot, Driver opens the door for the robber to get in.
During the initial chase scene, Driver takes off his watch and straps it to the steering wheel in the Impala. When parking in the stadium, he rushes out of the car, but later when he drives his own car the watch is back on his wrist.
At 44:38 into the movie and during the chase after the pawn shop robbery, the camera cuts to a shot of the girl in the back seat showing the chase car being flipped in slow motion. Just to her left shoulder on the rear interior deck of the car is the Iconix HD camera that is used to photograph some of the case scene.
In the chase scene after the pawn shop robbery, in several shots where the camera is shooting the front of the Mustang dust can be seen flying up in front on the Mustang, which is supposedly the car in front. The dust is clearly from a camera vehicle in front of the Mustang.
When Driver steals the Mustang off the street he gains access without using a key. He would have needed a properly cut and coded transponder key to start the car. Also car's alarm would have gone off right when the Driver opened the door.
When Driver is obtaining his Chevrolet Impala for the heist, he is told that the stock engine has been swapped for one with over 300 horsepower. In reality, that generation Impala (ninth generation) already had an available engine with over 300 horsepower. The Impala SS came with the 5.3 L LS4 V8 engine producing 303 horsepower. The SuperSport (SS) model was likely avoided because the trim package and other extras were not as common than other ninth generation Impalas and might make the car more distinguishable to police.
When Shannon is in the garage talking to Bernie about the race car, he says that the tire treads are still in good shape to assure Bernie of his purchase. Treads on NASCAR-style stock car tires are a bad thing. Stock cars use tires without treads to maximize grip on racetracks.
After the pawn shop robbery there's a close-up of the bag of money. All of the straps around the bills are the same ($10,000) which would be correct if there were only $100 bills. To the lower right of the shot is a strap of $20's, and the band should show $2,000. Straps are printed with what would be 100 bills of a certain denomination, and are different colors for different bills.
The production used two different Mustang GT's while filming. One, a 2011 model, is equipped with the 5.0L engine. The other is a 2010 model, which looks identical but is equipped with a 4.6L engine. All 2011 and later model Mustangs equip a wide view mini mirror, which can be seen when Driver steals the Mustang before the pawn shop heist. In the chase following the heist, the mirror is a regular full-on driver-side mirror without wide view, last used on the 2010 model.
Obviously flipped footage of Driver when he first spots Irene and Benicio standing with Shannon at the garage. In addition to the text on the lift being backwards, his hair is parted in a different direction and the brown patch on his denim shirt has jumped to the other side of his chest.
The goof items below may give away important plot points.
Towards the end of the movie, in the initial shot near the car, when Driver is about to give Bernie the money, Bernie stabs him just to the left of the mid-line. In subsequent shots the wound is clearly on Driver's right abdominal flank.
When Driver rams into Nino's car for the second time to push him over the cliff, he's shown to ram into the rear right door. After Nino's car tumbles down the cliff, there's a huge dent on the right front fender.
Towards the end of the movie, Driver rams his car into Nino's, pushing it off the cliff. In the subsequent shots, Driver's car is seen atop the cliff with no visible damage, the most obvious goof being that both headlights are fully intact.
