Factual errors

In one scene Abby says that she must go back to court to give a deposition. However, one does not go to court to give a deposition, and a deposition is not a courtroom procedure. A deposition is a sworn statement and is a technique used in the discovery stage in preparation before a trial takes place.

In one scene McGee refers to "doctors or surgeons", as though "doctors" and "surgeons" do not equate to each other. Instead surgeons comprise a subset of the set of "doctors". A surgeon is a physician (that is, a doctor of medicine) of a particular type; a surgeon is a "doctor" who practices one of the specialties of medicine.

The team says that the resort is used by "TDY personnel." TDY (Temporary DutY) is a term used by the Army, Air Force and civilian government agencies, but never in a Naval service. The Navy and Marines always say TAD (Temporary Assigned Duty).

Revealing mistakes

Right after the scene in which the team first visits Abby's ex-boyfriend there's a tight closeup of the view outside the NCIS bullpen's window. The fact it's not an actual view but a photographic backdrop is particularly obvious in the shot.
