An Incredible, Underrated Simpsons Episode
3 November 2006 | by (Minnesota) – See all my reviews

SPOILERS

This episode of the Simpsons I considered to be a wonderful, underrated episode. This episode is great. It's a nice little Bart and Lisa episode. Nancy Cartwright's and Yeardley Smith's performances were fantastic. Well, here's the summary.

Lisa tries to babysit to get extra money, but because she's so young nobody takes her seriously. Then Flanders needs somebody to babysit Rod and Tod because Maude was taking hostage. Lisa does a wonderful job babysitting and word quickly spreads. Now everyone wants Lisa to babysit their children.

The Springfield Squid Port reopens and Homer and Marge want to go. Marge tells Bart that Lisa will be babysitting him. Bart is outraged that someone two years and thirty-eight days younger than him will babysit him. Bart makes Lisa's night horrible. He orders a giant sub that costs $100. Not only does he do that, but he invites Krusty the Clown over, and he feeds Maggie caffeine. She chases Bart around the house and he teases her. While right next to the stairs, he slips and falls down the steps. He dislocates his shoulder and receives a nasty bump on the noggin. She tries to help but he runs away from her, claiming that when Homer and Marge get home, it will be the end of her babysitting.

He locks himself in his room and hits his head on the door. He does it so much that he knocks himself out. Lisa calls 911 and tries to get an ambulance, but Bart's prank calls make it impossible. She wants to call Doctor Hibbert, but she believes that that would be the end of her babysitting job.

She puts an unconscious Bart in a wheel borrow and a hyperactive Maggie in a cat carrier. She sets off to Doctor Nick's.

When she gets there she can't get an appointment and has to leave. She goes to the Springfield Hospital but is stopped by Chief Wiggum. He tells her that he loves the wheel borrow she has and Lisa panics. Where's Bart? Bart had slid down a mud slide into a river next to the Squid Port. People think that Lisa is on drugs, has murdered Bart, and is planning to drown Maggie. She thinks that her babysitting service is over.

The next day Bart apologizes to Lisa. She accepts the apology and is called by Ned Flanders. He asks her to babysit his kids. She is happy that people still want her to babysit.

Overall, this is one of the many gems in Season Eight.
