When i first found out about "sudbury" it was a year after it had already been filmed and discarded...having thought i missed it i finally found it cheap on ebay and was not disappointed..I am a huge fan of both the "Practical Magic" book and "Practical Magic" movie, even though they have their differences. "Sudbury" was a kind of an in-between version of the book and movie, but being its only 45 minutes long and was supposed to be a series, not a lot of detail is spread around. "Sudbury" is like the wrapped up version of the movie with elements from the book mixed in...For example "Sudbury" shares lines with the movie, the concept of midnight margaritas, and has the same ideas as the movie but twists and changes what happens. For example the exorcism of jimmy is re-created (and viewed differently) along with other scenes...A few elements that are taken from the book would be that the character of Jimmy Angelov (the whole vampire Dracula thing) from the movie isn't present but James (jimmy)Hawkins(the redneck) from the book is present...Also Sally lives away from the aunts house in her own house with her older teen-aged daughter (antonia) and her younger pre-teen daughter (kylie). The situation that occurs in "Sudbury" about the character of Antonia is one of its own and does not follow the ideas in the movie nor the book. Also the characters in the movie were different (appearance wise, age wise, or personality wise) than the characters from the book, but in "Sudbury" the characters follow more closely to those of the book in those aspects...All in all i thought that "sudbury" was another shorter version of "practical magic" (the movie) with a twist of its own...but if your a fan of the book and the movie then this may be an in-between ground for you, as it was for me...and if your looking for the beautiful scenery described in the book and seen in the movie in "sudbury" then you will miss out because it is completely lacking in that area. I still think that neither do the books justice when it comes to the complete story , and where i thought "sudbury" followed a little more closely to the movie perhaps if it had been a full series MORE elements of the book would have taken place...hope this was somewhat useful :)
