Michael's Birthday (#2.19)
ComedyFan201029 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
It is Michael's birthday but Kevin's worry about skin care is in the way.

Very funny episode with Michael being a selfish guy so it makes one laugh. Dwight and Angela talking about "getting a cookie" next to Ryan and the face he had was one of the things that made me laugh the most in this episode.

"So that was probably my worst birthday."

A pretty good episode focusing on Michael and a good cold open. Kevin's b-plot fits nicely together with the main plot. Also starts the arc with Michael and Carol

I'm always up for Michael. He's trying his best to cheer everyone( at least, he's thinking that) and when now is his birthday no one trying to cheer him, sad :/

Michael's Skating Birthday Party
vivianla10 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It is Michael's birthday and he wants attention. Kevin is waiting for his skin cancer results and everyone in the office sympathizes.

Michael's nose looks really good. I never noticed if you just look at it by itself it looks very well shaped. He has on a sky blue dress shirt and striped suit.

A woman with delivery comes in and Michael thought she was going to give a lap dance. He sits on a chair and waits for it. He comments on the chair's arms, hoping it is okay the chair has arms. Delivery woman looks at him like he is crazy and Pam signs the delivery.

Michael and the office employees go to the skating rink where it is far away from the sun. Everyone is skating and turns out, Michael is very good at hockey. He wears hockey gear and sees the woman who sold him his home. Michael asks her kids if they want to skate with him and Michael asks politely, "Is that okay?". The woman watches the endearing scene.

Kevin gets the phone call and the results are negative. Michael thought "negative" meant literally negative. Turns out in health care negative is a good thing.

I think this episode was in poor taste to mock cancer.

Warning: Spoilers
In an unbelievably random, odd, and depressing coincidence, this episode came on today as I was trying to find something to fall asleep to. This was the same day I had to leave my grandfather's death bed as he is in the last stages of his life, suffering from malignant melanoma that has metastasized to his brain. I think the show was in very poor taste to not only have Michael mock the survivability of melanoma, but then to compare it to brain cancer is both crass and appalling. I am a huge fan of the office, and have seen every episode multiple times...but seeing this episode the same day I probably saw my grandfather for the last time as he dies from something that the writers felt was OK to mock and have Michael make fun of is just hurtful and something I think they could have handled better. I realize this is a comedy show and that the entire point is that Michael is an idiot and dispassionate and naïve about the things he says, but this episode really hurt. I feel the episode was wrong to use cancer as a means to highlight Michael's selfishness. While the statistics they mention, that melanoma has a 98% survivability rate, may be true...they should still have thought about the 2% that have experienced, or known someone that experienced the opposite situation. Overall one of the worst episodes of The Office.
