This seems like an improvement right from the last episode! I notice that there are a lot more jokes and way fewer pauses. It's weird to not have Crow in the theater. He still appears in this episode, just in the background being frozen. I could have sworn I read a review of this episode saying Tom Servo wasn't in it either. Oh well. It's interesting to hear the phone calls and while it's not as good as the later segments, it does give a personal feeling to the series. It's also pretty funny to hear Tom Servo refer to himself as a gumball machine. I admit that Gypsy's voice is pretty annoying. I'm glad they change Tom Servo's voice here.
There were certainly some good riffs in this episode, more than the previous episode. The first really funny one was, "It's all fun until someone loses an entire body!". Another great exchange was, "And then he'll burn up all the people who were mean to Granddaddy" followed by, "And then burn us up!". It was really fun to hear, "We're going to tap him on the shoulder and appear on his other shoulder". I also liked the etch a sketch joke. It's great to see the series progress. ***
