Anthology of Sin
This is one of my favorite episodes of the show, it's another that somewhat of an anthology but I like those kinds of episodes in shows, for this show it allowed it the freedom to go places and do things with their comedy that they can't do on a regular consistent storyline.
Basically, the whole episode is simply an anthology based on the seven deadly sins (well ok they don't do all the sins but due to the rating and nature of the show those sins couldn't be done, and I honestly can't see how, so oh well).
The whole episode is almost like an improv act game, as we see each of the ensemble cast express their personas based on the sins or even just act on those sins. It was just a lot of fun and funny seeing the characters all doing it and they all seemed like they were having fun; this anthology is funny because of how true it is as we all live with these sinful traits and desires everyday and some of the things they do and express or think of doing are what we do likewise.
I like the aliens whom by their nature are narrative devices and are voiced by both Joey Lawrence and Michael Stoynaov, it's just funny some of the weird things they just say which makes sense as their aliens. I know it seems really weird for the show to have aliens, but this is a sitcom after all and this is one of those stand-alone episodes, so it's alright.
I'll just say a few of my favorite tales, first on is Sloth which is so simple and yet so funny. It's just funny seeing Blossom not moving except to turn her head very slowly and not wanting to even do the simplest thing that takes only seconds to a minute to do, which in her mind right now is just a minute and second too long.
What I like about this tale is that it just keeps getting funnier as we see Sloth is infectious as one by one Six and the rest come under the spell, really like the chorus line at the end. Though I'll admit I can emphasize with that when I'm just exhausted to my core, like the Energon is just completely depleted I don't feel like doing much of anything or going anywhere, except watch a movie or something; so, when this happens the store is closed until tomorrow.
Another is on Lust which is simple as we see Six and Joey just come in at the wrong place and time as Blossom and Vinnie are about to have lip locked action. We all see them watching a movie together in silence and during that time we see each of the characters on what they really want to do in the moment. What makes it funny is the thought of one character I won't say who, but it doesn't go the normal way you think but shows how the lust can mean more.
Though my favorite one is anger/wrath where it's pretty much a ring around the rosy of angry feelings, it's just funny how each of them is just triggered by just the smallest thing, which is true as sometimes that's all it takes, much like with Nitro Glycerin.
Each of them expresses their annoyance with certain character traits/flaws that have contributed to their annoyance, I feel this is funny because it's true there may 'be one or two things about our closest companion that hit like a wrong note with us, not that it's the biggest deal but it's still there. But that just makes us all the more human, as an old saying goes we all have our faults.
The littlest sin can create the biggest stories.
Rating: 4 stars.
