"This Is Ned Flanders, My Friend!"
jerekra14 January 2009
I love this episode. In fact I will come out and say that this is my favorite episode of the entire series.

When Ned wins tickets to a football game he asks Homer to go with him. Desperate, Homer decides to go with him. Won over by Ned's kindness and generosity, Homer becomes friends with Ned and spends a lot of time with him. After spending a lot of time with Homer, Ned begins to hate his new friend.

I think the entire plot involving Homer becoming friends with Homer is awesome. For the entire series Homer always hated Flanders so it is cool how he becomes friends with him for this episode. I always like the episodes where something that would never happen usually happens for one episode. This is a really funny episode. Whether it be Homer mistaking a waffle for God, Bart getting Rod and Todd hyper off a pixie stick, or Moe reading to the homeless this episode has got it all. I do not want to give too much away but there is even a heart touching scene towards the end which seems to be missing from newer Simpson Episodes.

Great episode. The best of the series and you must see it.

Homer and Ned At Their Best

I love it every time Homer interacts with Ned and to have a whole episode where they have become friends is just brilliant. There is so many great scenes in this episode that I don't want to spoil it by telling you about them all, but this an episode worth watching and is among my top 10.

No need for heaven

Ned Flanders invites Homer to a football game and they become friends.

This is a memorable episode with great character moments.

The writers do a great job of changing the dynamic between the characters and making it very funny.

Homer going completely against type with his blossoming friendship and crossing the line towards obsession works incredibly well. The little touches such as the Terminator 2 tribute and hedge walkthrough are hilarious.

You feel for Flanders in virtually every scene during the episode and how it finishes has a great feel-good factor, plus a great self-parody by the writers of stories hitting the reset button is great.

Too Much of a Good Thing!

When Homer can't get tickets for the big football game, he is depressed. Then Ned Flanders wins a pair of tickets and offers to take Homer to the game. This is like a death wish. Homer is insufferable from beginning to end. A really funny episode. I really cracked up when the Fllanders kids, sugar deprived, go nuts after ingesting pixie stix.

Homer and Flanders

Warning: Spoilers
One episode from season five was called Homer and Apu, and here Homer takes it a notch up with this episode Homer Loves Flanders, and there's always been a love-hate relationship between the neighbors, and Flander finds himself incredibly irritate by Homer's goodness, so what's he to do, and preserve his religious standards without wanting to come across as a hypocrite, and that could affect his testimony. Anyway, the ending is redemptive, with Homer standing up for Flanders, and then the episode wraps up with everything back to normal order in the Simpsons universe between Homer and Ned init.
