Quotes

Sonja Harper: We're talking about equal opportunities! We're talking about equal pay! We're talking about equal rights! We're talking about equal curfews!
Thelma 'Mama' Crowley Harper: We're talking about all that?
Sonja Harper: [gets up] You just don't understand.
Thelma 'Mama' Crowley Harper: Well now, Sonja, just wait a minute, I do, I do too. I understand that right now, there's a whole lot that I don't understand. I don't know why I followed all those rules if they're just gonna fall apart now.

Sonja's Older than Buzz!
6 August 2008 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

In this episode, we learn that Vint and his first wife, Mitzi, had Sonya or Sonja first followed by Vinton "Buzz" Jr. We also learned that Sonja was named after a family member, an aunt who was a school-teacher who went nuts and set fire to the gymnasium. In this episode, Sonja and Buzz go the Homecoming Dance with dates. We meet Michael Skinner who returns in a later episode as Sonya's date. Vint gives an extra hour to younger Buzz because he's a boy. Sonja gets furious and storms out with her date. She is leaving a girl and returning home a woman according to her. Anyway, Mama, Vint, and Naomi spend the evening playing go fish cards in the living room. Aunt Fran is not in this episode unfortunately. For Sonya, it's all about a double standard when her younger brother gets to stay later than she does on an important night.
