Daria: [Inner monologue about a paintball trip] Somebody in movie once said, "Hell is the possibility of sanity." That's what this place fels like: Hell. I hate it already, and it's only been an hour. Some damn hour, Grandma.

The students go paint balling
27 November 2012 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

When teachers ask students to ask their parents to volunteer to accompany them on a paint-balling trip Daria and Quinn are unusually united in their determination that their parents would not be coming; unfortunately they didn't count on Mr. O'Neill calling them! As the classes divide into two teams Jane and Daria decide to slip away and visit the great white shark exhibit they had seen advertised on the way; not surprisingly it wasn't as impressive as the signs suggested. While they are gone everybody else carries on with the paint-balling; the fashion club end up shooting each other; Jake and Mr. DeMartino turn to drink and in the greatest surprise of the episode Brittany proves to be a tactical genius!!.

This episode was packed with laughs; a surprising number coming from Quinn and the fashion club; I love how she lets them believe her immediate family are really just distant cousins. There are plenty of film references to please movie buffs including 'Jaws', 'Platoon' and 'Apocalypse Now'; that said you don't need to have seen the films to find the episode entertaining; it is just a bonus. The way the staff behaved was even more amusing than the students; Ms Barch always ranting about how she hates men and DeMartino getting drunk with Jake being particular highlights.
