Rent-A-Goalie is another in a long line of Canadian comedies that is under-noticed and under-rated. I am thrilled to have caught wind of this one before it went off the air, I cant say enough good things about it. Character driven, crude, loyal, Canadian, funny, impossible and true.
The show brings a real sense of ethic and redemption without preaching. That having been said, there is a character who farts endlessly, and another one called 'Puker', another who ends just about every phrase with 'almost'.
All the Characters are tragically, tragically flawed, which only serves to endear them to the audience. It is fascinating, and will appeal whether you are sitting around with your hockey boys or your girl friends.
Top notch, have a look, have several looks, give it a real chance and maybe this is a Canadian comedy we can help keep around for a while.
To give you a sense of my taste in programming other shows I liked that were similar in some ways include: Arrested Development, Slings and Arrows, Due South, Corner Gas, Nortern Exposure, Sex and the City, Friends, The West Wing
