Fright House of a Lighthouse

I really liked this episode, there were essentially two mysteries wrapped up in one, both needing to be solved. It reminded me also of the episode where the action figures come to life so the security guard to steal painting. If you watch this episode you'll know why.

Go near the lighthouse and you're docked

Warning: Spoilers
This is another good episode as the gang meet Fred's uncle Karl makes a remark about Fred bench press. Then we see the dark creepy-looking lighthouse which its inhabitant is nicknamed Creepy Keeper one of most frightening appearances especially at the start of the episode - those bright headlamp eyes.

There's such classic humour and hilarious scenes to this even Fred cunningly had Shaggy and Scoob as bait of their reaction with the Creepy Keeper and Scooby Snacks. Also, meet another mystery solver Velma's archenemy named Verona Dempsey. As well as the lighthouse, there's the ghost ship with skeleton crew and Verona finds out the culprit is bearded Crusty like pirate guy - almost has viewers believe that mystery is solved and episode has ended early.

Maybe it's just filler with those men with van with satellite dish who Shaggy and Scooby followed to investigate. Anyway, another episode with another one of the best chase scene music.

A frighthouse of a lighthouse.

A frighthouse of the lighthouse.

When scoob and the gang go to Wisconsin to see Fred's uncle Carl they are told about the "creepy keeper".

After scoob and shaggy are face to face with the keeper they investigate the mystery but first we need to eat some cheese-shaggy.

They go to check out the lighthouse when one of them is taken(think danger prone you know who).

They then loose the keeper and try to find him again.

After searching they find it and a ghostly creepy heap to.

After they set a trap or plan to anyways but they get sidelined by Velma's new foe and fellow nerd.

More into the story they had not solved the mystery and set a trap for the keeper anyways and caught him but he is not of who he seems.

This was a really good episode.

Jeepers it's the Creepy Keeper

'What's New Scooby Doo' left me mixed when first watching it. Rewatching it a few times overtime it has grown on me a good deal. There are some not so good episodes but when the show was good it was pretty fantastic. Season 3 was not as consistent as the previous two seasons, with two of the show's weakest episodes being in it. But it also had a good number of great ones, a few of which show high points.

One of those 'What's New Scooby Doo' high points being "Fright House of a Lighthouse". It gets my vote as the best episode of Season 3 and the best 'What's New Scooby Doo' episode since "Simple Plan and the Invisible Madman". Even on first watch, the creepiness was really felt and the villain and the chase scene/song blew me away, so to me "Fright House of a Lighthouse" was a triumph in showing what the Scooby Doo franchise is all about.

There is so much to love about "Fright House of a Lighthouse". Absolutely love the sinister look of the animation, the dark colour pallette in the creepier scenes really enhancing the atmosphere. The opening scene being an example. The Creepy Keeper is also one of the shows best looking villains. The music is very haunting while also being groovy.

Another standout element is the chase scene and song, which are amazing, among the best of 'What's New Scooby Doo' and the best since "Simple Plan and the Invisible Madman". Not to mention the villain the Creepy Keeper, one of the few villains of the later episodes to be truly frightening in every way. Their reveal is also not obvious.

Which was great considering that some of the solutions in the second half of Season 2 were predictable. The mystery is truly creepy in tone, the opening scene particularly, and is also very energetic with a lot happening. It is not too simple, neither is it too hard to follow. There is some great humour, such as the priceless reaction of Shaggy and Scooby regarding the Creepy Keeper and the Scooby Snacks.

Voice acting is great, particularly Casey Kasem.

Fantastic episode and a show high point. 10/10.

A Mediocre Episode with a Few Nods to the Classic Series

I recently watched this episode of What's New, Scooby-Doo? And it was okay.

The episode's premise was interesting, with the gang investigating a haunted lighthouse, but the execution was lacking. The mystery could have been more engaging, and I lost interest halfway through.

As always, the characters were fun to watch and had their classic moments of humor, but the episode as a whole just didn't do it for me. I did appreciate the nods to previous Scooby-Doo episodes, and the animation was decent, but it wasn't enough to make up for the lackluster plot.

Overall, "Fright House of a Lighthouse" is a decent episode for a casual watch, but don't expect anything too thrilling or memorable.
