Christian Bale rules out 'Justice League': 'Three Batman films enough'

just now | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Christian Bale has ruled out playing Batman in a Justice League movie.

It was claimed earlier this year that the Dark Knight star was in talks to join a potential DC Comics ensemble film, although the speculation was denied by writer David S Goyer.

Bale has now told Entertainment Weekly that he has no intention of reprising his role in any future projects.

"We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]," the 39-year-old explained. "That's enough. Let's not get greedy.

"Chris [Nolan] always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying, 'We're about to make the third'. We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well."

Christian Bale confirms he won't return as The Dark Knight in Justice League

1 hour ago | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Despite the fact we've heard repeatedly that Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy would have no connection to Warner Bros.' planned DC movie universe, there's been persistent rumours suggesting that Christian Bale could extend his stay as Gotham's protector by reprising the role of Batman for the long-awaited Justice League movie (should it ever come to fruition, of course). Well, we can now firmly put an end to that speculation, with Bale telling Entertainment Weekly that he's hung up the cape and cowl and is looking forward to passing the Bat-torch to another actor.

"We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]. That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy," says Bale, who portrayed the Caped Crusader in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. "Chris [Nolan] always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, »

Opinion: Is the dark DC cinematic universe a mistake?

4 hours ago | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

I have one simple rule as it applies to every review of any work of art. It goes like this:   All reviews must be placed in a cultural context, or they are inherently worthless. Tell me what this album, this book, this movie, this gallery display says about us as a society. Illuminate something about myself that I don't even know yet. Tell me what makes this important. Tell me why this is art.   I'm happy to report that "Man of Steel" got many people thinking in that direction. If you use Twitter -- which some might define as »

The Lone Ranger Review

6 hours ago | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

It is as apparent in The Lone Ranger as it was in 2011’s Rango that director Gore Verbinski has not only a deep and abiding love for westerns, but a spectacular handle on the aesthetics of the genre. Outside of Rango, The Lone Ranger is easily the filmmaker’s most visually stunning effort to date, one that makes particularly tremendous use of location shooting, with characters placed among breathtaking desert and mountain vistas, and the immersive widescreen frame being exploited to its fullest extent. Including the terrific production, costume, and sound design, The Lone Ranger is, on the surface at least, immediately identifiable as a grand Western epic, the kind which we see very rarely these days, and no matter how many problems the film itself may have, the genre-specific energy with which Verbinski has imbued the film is often infectious.

The Wizard Of Oz IMAX 3D Trailer Arrives To Celebrate The Film's 75th Anniversary

6 hours ago | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

If we've learned anything from the success of Sam Raimi's Oz The Great and Powerful earlier this year it's that people are still very much interested in spending time in the merry old world of Oz. While the movie ended up dividing critics, families came out in droves both domestically and internationally, and by the end of the film's run in theaters it managed to make a global total of just under $500 million - making it the third biggest hit of the year at the halfway mark (behind only Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel). In terms of sequels it's hard to say what the future will hold, but later this year people will be able to venture into the past. As you can see above, Yahoo! has debuted the first trailer for the upcoming IMAX 3D release of Victor Fleming's classic fantasy The Wizard of Oz. »

Christian Bale Says He Will Not Return for Justice League Film

9 hours ago | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

"Man of Steel" director Zack Snyder recently said that Batman from "The Dark Knight" trilogy is not the same Batman who's part of the "Justice League" and "Man of Steel" universe. In other words, the plan is to replace Christian Bale as Batman. To get a confirmation of this, Entertainment Weekly reached out the Bale, who said: "We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]. That's enough. Let's not get greedy. I have no information [about 'Justice League']. I've literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a 'Justice League' movie, that's it. It's a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with." There has been a rumor that "Man of Steel 2" will be in theaters by 2014, which will be followed by "Justice League" in 2015. "Man of Steel »

Christian Bale Says He Won’t (& Shouldn’t) Return For ‘Justice League’

11 hours ago | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Bad news for those who thought that Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale’s take on Batman in the pair’s Dark Knight trilogy was the definitive live-action version: it seems we can finally put to rest hopes of seeing the star suit up on screen once more. Although rumors of a Justice League film being planned by Warner Bros. and DC Comics refuse to die following the success of Man of Steel (2013), Bale has again spoken on the likelihood of ever returning to play Bruce Wayne.

Expressing the same opinions he has in the past, the star sees Nolan’s take on the character as a finished story. From his point of view, the ...

Christian Bale confirmed today that he is not returning to play Batman in Warner Bros.' highly-anticipated Justice League superhero ensemble. When asked about his possible involvement in the project, the actor revealed that he was 'incredibly fortunate' to make three Batman movies (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises) with director Christopher Nolan, but he hasn't been approached to even consider joining Justice League.

Christian Bale Won't Be Justice League's Batman

12 hours ago | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

With Zack Snyder's Man of Steel having already made over $500 million worldwide, it's pretty clear that audiences have accepted star Henry Cavill as the new cinematic Superman that we will be seeing for years to come. The future of Batman, however, remains completely up in the air. Before the release of Man of Steel there were endless rumors suggesting that either Christian Bale or Joseph Gordon-Levitt was going to cameo in movie and create a tie between the new version of Superman and Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy - and while that ended up not being the case, still many wonder if there's any chance that either star could return as the Caped Crusader in the planned Justice League movie. Today it seems that one of the stars has firmly shut that door. Entertainment Weekly recently had the chance to catch up with Bale, who has the new »

"White House Down" Flops! What Happened Channing Tatum?

12 hours ago | Manny the Movie Guy | See recent Manny the Movie Guy news »

Yes, folks, "White House Down" flopped at the box-office. Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx were no match for the star power of Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy whose "The Heat" triumphed at No. 2 with a $40 million debut. "White House Down?" $25.7 million and with a reported budget of $150 million, it's a certifiable flop! Worst than "After Earth," "Jack the Giant Slayer," and "The Hangover Part III."

So what happened? Well, first, there was a movie called "Olympus Has Fallen" that shared the same DNA as "White House Down." And actually, I found that movie better than the Tatum-Foxx collaboration. Why? Because it had a singular vision -- the terrorists are bad, but don't worry, Gerard Butler is here to save the day. Its simplicity is what saved the film.

"White House Down" has a lot of angles that people were not able to connect the dots. Is it about White House being attacked? »

Kaley Cuoco dating 'Man of Steel' Henry Cavill

12 hours ago | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

If this isn't a ready-made storyline for "The Big Bang Theory," what is? Kaley Cuoco has snagged herself a new man. Not just any man, but a Superman. That's right, the actress is reportedly dating "Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill.

The two have been keeping their relationship under wraps, but Us Weekly cites a source who says "they are totally hot for each other." It was Cuoco, however, who might have let word of the relationship slip.

On June 15, she posted a photo of herself staring, with her jaw dropped, at a "Man of Steel" poster that prominently features Cavill in the famous blue suit. "Everyone go see 'Man of Steel'," she writes, "It's fantastic in every single way." Of course, everything looks better when the person you're in a new relationship with is wearing tights.

Previously, Cavill was dating Mma fighter and actress Gina Carano. They split in May, »

Will Christian Bale Play Batman Again?

Despite some earlier reports to the contrary, Christian Bale will not play Batman in any upcoming Justice League film that Warner Bros. gets together in the wake of "Man of Steel."
