Life with Vinnie can't make up for life without Julie
25 June 2016 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

"Follow the Leader" concludes with Gabe awakening in his apartment, not with Julie by his side but the despondent Vinnie Barbarino, who has no other place to stay since his parents threw him out. Kotter lectures Barbarino to go to school or get a job: "you don't need brains to get a job, and I'm gonna prove it!" At school, Washington has switched from leader to irate dictator, blowing a loud whistle that annoys the entire class. Vinnie's career as a Tidy Didy salesman doesn't look promising, and even Mr. Woodman misses him. Freddie's days as leader appear numbered when Kotter delivers an ultimatum: "take your whistle and blow!" Julie returns to her lonely husband, who resorted to telling the pizza man he loved him! We learn that Julie's maiden name is Hanson, and that Horshack's middle name is the same as his mother's maiden name, Dingfelder.
