Storyline

BubbleStand: SpongeBob introduces Patrick and Squidward to his unique talent, the art of bubble blowing. After first turning his nose up at this plebeian pastime, Squidward accepts the challenge and attempts to surpass SpongeBob's level of expertise. Squidward's plan to humiliate SpongeBob completely "blows up" in his face. Ripped Pants: When SpongeBob tries to impress Sandy Cheeks at Mussel Beach, he accidentally rips his pants. SpongeBob is embarrassed until he realizes the beach crowd thought he jokingly did it on purpose. SpongeBob's ripped pants are the hit of the beach, until he pushes the joke too far. Written by NAS

The lyrics go in the "Ripped Pants" song go, "When Big Larry came 'round just to put him down...", and the Beach Boys lyrics go, "When some loud braggart tries to put me down...". See more »

Quotes

SpongeBob: Good morning, sir. Would you like to blow a bubble?
Patrick Star: How much is it?
SpongeBob: One quarter.
Patrick Star: Sounds reasonable. Uhh...
[whispering]
Patrick Star: I'm going to have to borrow a quarter.
SpongeBob: Here you go.
[Hands Patrick a quarter]
Patrick Star: Ah, one quarter.
[Gives it back to SpongeBob; he tests it to see if it's real, then puts it in his pocket]

How can two extremely stupid plot lines be turned into two of the greatest SpongeBob episodes ever? To find out, you have to watch these.

"Bubblestand" SpongeBob is bored on a bright and shiny day. He begins building something. It turns out to be a "Bubblestand" you can blow bubbles for a quarter. Patrick is the first customer, but he can't do it. So he gets lessons from SpongeBob (for a quarter) and he shows Patrick the "technique" to bubble-blowing. Squidward tries this and blows a giant bubble that (spoilers) carries his house into the sky. A hilarious episode that had me in stitches. 10/10 "Ripped Pants" SpongeBob rips his pants while he's lifting weights with Sandy and Larry (who appears for the first time in this episode). Everyone thinks it's hilarious so he keeps doing it. Eventually, he goes too far and (spoilers again) sings the song "Ripped Pants," which is one of the show's great musical numbers. 10/10 The whole episode: 10/10
