[the school is having a casino night]
Mr. DeMartino: Daria, take my chips.
Daria: Excuse me?
Mr. DeMartino: You know, as a thank you for making me want to kill myself a little less than the processed sausages who call themselves your classmates.
Jane: You're not one of those "Young people are our greatest hope" guys, are you?
Daria: Thanks, Mr. DeMartino, but I can't. I've already reached my fun quota.
Mr. DeMartino: Well, then, you take them, Jane. For being so...
Jane: Yes?
Mr. DeMartino: Angular.

All aboard the floating casino 'Fairy Princess'
7 January 2013 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

Ms Li's latest idea to raise funds is a casino night aboard a cruise ship; everybody is expected to attend. In the run up to the event Quinn bumps into a male model in the hair salon and ends up inviting him to join her for the casino night thinking he will raise her stature above that of her friends... although she would never say that was the reason of course! Jake decides he and Helen should attend too as it will be the perfect opportunity to try to get some business from the owners. Inevitably the night doesn't go as planned; Quinn's date doesn't turn up, the owner of the ship is a miser and it becomes apparent that Mr DeMartino has a gambling problem. These aren't even the worst of the problems; by the time the night is over everybody will regret setting foot on the 'Fairy Princess'.

The story line may be more than a little far-fetched but it was a lot of fun; Daria and Jane's attempts to find some peace and quiet so they can sleep was almost as funny as many of the dramatic moments... although not as funny as the fashion club's bickering; how they remain friends with their constant one-upmanship and backstabbing I do not know! There are some minor flaws of course; for example; if it is a mandatory event why are there so few people attending? It is as though Lawndale High School only has a couple of classes! Still that is a minor quibble; I thought it was a pretty good episode.
