This was the second pilot made for ABC. It wasn't aired until 1998, when TVLand showed it for the first time.

In the pilot, the Bunkers had the last name of "Justice" and Gloria's husband was named "Richard".
The actors who played Gloria, her husband Richard, and Lionel Jefferson in this pilot were replaced by the time the series actually aired.
