Worst episode ever?
Ferran_9914 June 2020
How was this was considered to be the worst episode ever? Did they not see the musical flashback compilation episode?

This has one to be one of the better episodes set in the future.

The Simpsons vs. Joe Biden
e_daneva18 February 2024
Bart to the Future was a okay episode. Reading all these 3 reviews on here I learned that in 2003 Entertainment Weekly called this the worst Simpsons episode ever. I could understand why they say that, but I don't agree with it. This episode does have some flaws. One is that the episode kinda drags on and it just feels a bit bland. However, this episode has lots of good jokes too. How did EW rank this as he worst episode? That really is Crazy Talk. There are soo many episodes worse than this one. Just look at this season. Without even looking I can name Kill the Alligator and Run, Saddlehorse Galactia, Pymoeilon, Missionary Impossible, etc. Some of these episodes I named aren't even bad!! And guess what? We got to see Gabbo again!!! Remember Gabbo?! Gabbo was the puppet from the finale of Season 4 called Krusty gets Kancelled who stole Krusty out of his business. 7 seasons later he's back!!! Unfortunately, that episode Krusty gets Kancelled was considered a dud and a lot of reviewers mark it is Zombie Simpsons before Zombie Simpsons. Come on it wasn't that bad!!

Anyway I want to talk to you about the famous Simpson prediction that the Simpsons made in this episode. The Trump prediction. The Simpsons are known for predicting the future, but this is probably there most famous one. Besides being named the "worst Simpsons episode ever" by Entertainment Weekly, this episode is known for predicting Trump's presidency. Believe it or not, this episode hasn't predicted anything. Yet. The Simpsons predicted Trump was going to be president in 2024-2028, because this episode is set in 2029. Right now for me it's 2024, and this is the year of the election. Trump vs. Biden. Or should I say The Simpsons vs. Joe Biden. The Simpsons never predicted Biden to be president, they predicted Trump. Well Trumpie, you got high chances, beside the Simpsons have predicted about 19 other stuff. But the Simpsons could be wrong. ( I will not be telling which party I support, because some people might not be happy if I badmouth either Biden or Trump ) All Democrats have to turn on the Simpsons and hope that they will lose the election. Wait, everyone already has turned on the Simpsons because they became worse in this season. I guess Biden has more supporters then. Anyway, later this year, it will be determined if the Simpsons won, or Biden won.

In all I give this episode a 6.8 out of 10.

Horrendous

Warning: Spoilers
In 2003, this episode was rated as the worst episode of the series. And even so, this episode wasn't really funny. Rather, it was pathetic. Seeing Bart as a loser, and Lisa as President of the United States was a nightmarish concept. Lisa being President is not really bad, but she would be better off as a researcher, doctor, veterinarian, musician, or activist. But being President, that's bad enough. And oh, Bart. It would been better if Bart was either a veteran suffering PTSD or misfortunes, a deadbeat law enforcement agent, or anything else other than being a slacker or a washed up rockstar. Overall, "Bart to the Future" had nothing to do with "Back to the Future" (which included time travel) except a similar name.

Worst Episode Ever? Nah, but it has hit and miss.

Warning: Spoilers
Almost 10 years ago Entertainment Weekly called this "the worst episode ever" yet it's only their opinion and there are much worse episodes than this.

The hits: I do like the premise of this episode to show Bart how his future would be if he doesn't show more responsibility in his life. Lisa as the president of USA would be surprising but unprecedented to have. The future devices they get are funny and wacky creative. Such as the machine that will give you virtual food and be sure to be careful. My favorite joke is when after Homer gets electrified by the wire he yells: Oh what a bleak horrible future we live!

The miss: Some characters are out of their personality, like Ralph he's much more smarter than before and not the Ralph you love. It doesn't have to be a bad thing but it would be better if he was still himself. Some other characters becomes a little bit boring and doesn't give many laughable jokes we wan't to hear or see. There are a few tiresome jokes too. The ending could have been funnier but it all felt too fast to conclude.

Is this episode recommended? It depends what you feel, but I don't think it's the worst episode iv'e seen my life, but the episode is definitely not Emmy worthy because of it's flaws but I'm curious to find out what others think rather than the critics.
