Storyline

Count Paul de Vijon, with a beautiful daughter, lives in an ancient French chateau. Though the possessor of a large estate, he is heavily in debt. He decides that he will have to give his daughter in marriage to a man of wealth. His wishes are gratified when John Meyerson, a rich American, sees Germaine at the Duke de Beaulieu's ball and proposes to her. Though she rebels against this man whom she inwardly despises, she is willing to sacrifice herself for her father, and promises to marry the American millionaire. De Vijon and his daughter go to America to visit Meyerson. While out motoring, Germaine meets with an accident and is thrown from the car. She is taken into a nearby house, which turns out to be the studio of Charles Lindgard, a young American artist. When Germaine recovers her composure, and sees a picture of herself upon the artist's easel, having been copied from a picture in a newspaper, she learns that she is Lindgard's ideal of womanhood.
