Very funny! Debra cries, Ray dances...
21 January 2009 | by (Greensboro, NC) – See all my reviews

Ray catches Debra bleaching her "cookie duster" (mustache). She freaks out and tells him she never has any privacy. So she tells Ray she needs alone time at the house. She asks Ray to take the kids to his mom's house so she can have a break. When he gets to his parents house, they assume they must be having marital problems if Debra wants to be alone.

Ray starts to believe them so he goes back home to spy on Debra through the window. To his dismay, she is on the sofa crying with a box of Kleenex - and the TV is off. He freaks out and goes back to his parents. He realizes he can't say anything to Debra because she will know he was spying.

So he goes back home and offers to help with chores. He says he realizes he hasn't been a good husband. Debra acts like she doesn't know what he's talking about. Finally, he slips up and she realizes he saw her crying. She explains that nothing's wrong - that she LIKES to just have a good cry every now and then. That its cathartic. He thinks she's crazy.

Then she tries to get him to cry. It's hilarious. She relives Allie's birth - no reaction from Ray. Then she reminds him how his parents gave his dog away in 5th grade - he gets mad, but still no tears.

The show closes with Ray sitting on the sofa playing the same song Debra listens to when she feels like crying - the theme from ICE Castles. He sits there and tries to make crying faces. What a hoot! He finally gives up and switches the stereo to "Soul sister" and starts to dance - as only an uncoordinated white man can!! One of my favorite episodes!
